I feel it might be hard for the Sharks to say no to this. Maybe I just believe that Laine could bounce back and be a top winger, but in my mind this is the Sharks trading Hertl for Laine + Domi and moving Kane's contract out for nothing which is a pretty big win in my eyes.

Edit: that said, I don't think Columbus would touch this and Kane/Hertl would both be against a trade to CBJ

I don’t think this fits CBJ. I really like their youth growth and if they can trade Laine for a high return and get a high pick this year like Wright:

Wright
Johnson/ Sillinger
^ the Later

That would be a unreal Center depth for the future plus Chinakov having 3 super talented centers to roll around with is gonna put together a really bright future for CBJ.

Kane is good I guess if he can mesh with the team (lmao) but Hertl would help a lot with lightening the load on those kids but idk. I just think CBJ should be patient and not take on 14-16 mil (7m Kane, 6-8m Hertl). They could even pitch Hertl in UFA if he decides to be a rental to cup contender.

This part, 100%. They've got a ton of cap space opening up over the next year. For a team that blew a lot of picks, and held on to a whole bunch of pending UFA's, it's actually impressive that they have such a solid farm. If I'm Columbus, I'm sitting back this season to see what I've got, then striking next offseason.

If CBJ has a bad year and Laine doesn’t improve, I could see them dumping him at the TDL for high pick and futures.
Same with Domi.
But not for a deal like this…while I like Hertl, Kane has had way too much baggage in every place he has been.
No thanks.
Based on the return for Foligno and Savard last year, Laine and Domi will return even a bit more IMO.

Sharks have to decline. If we move Hertl it's for futures.

In all likelihood, Laine is moved, I believe. CBJ are going to go with futures, aren't really in a position to essentially waste 1-2 years of a high-cost Hertl on a losing team.
