You'd have to give up more than that.

I'd say that 2nd has to be a first to make this more accurate, and probably a prospect. The issue I'm unsure about, and maybe some SJ fans can chime in, I don't think SJ is going into a rebuild. I'd imagine they want a replacement for Hertl, so I don't even know what they want at the end of the day.

Hertl being traded with an extension would cost much more than that. That’s not even enough for Hertl without an extension.

You might want to include a 1st and maybe another player if you want to be serious.

If you are looking at Monahan for example as a 2 year stopgap then sure, you have a starting block (probably add a little more). But that definitely wont get you Hertl with an extension

Not even talk value, Merkley is in line for the OFD role on the right behind Burns and Karlsson. On the left Brannstrom is behind Ferraro who I don’t think he’ll be able to pass, and Knyzhov who idk if he would pass soon just because of how strong Knyzhov has been as a TWD.

If Brannstrom was a few years out then it would make more sense but Brannstrom needs a role NOW. Yeah maybe he’d take 3RD now but as soon as mid year/ March we could see:

*=lock

Ferraro* - Burns/ Karlsson
Knyzhov* - Karlsson/ Burns
Vlasic/ Simek - Merkley/ Brannstrom
Hatakka/ Simek/ Vlasic - Brannstrom/ Merkley
Kniazev

That’s just a log jam that would require Burns moving and Vlasic being dumped which all is too complicated too make taking Brannstrom worth it before all that happens because Vlasic moving is like moving a anchor and Burns trades are not predictable whatsoever

Monahan isn't very good.... last 2 years
120gp 32g 44a 76p .... .63ppg or 52 point/82gp
49.58CF% 48.43FF% 49.32xGF%

he's a middle of the road 2c... that being said Dvorak is a good 3c and he got a 1st and 2nd round pick..

Poor take, Monahan was injured 75% of the last season. Prior to his injury he was on pace for 62 points. 2 years ago sure he did not look good but he still paced 56 points. You are purposely choosing to ignore 3 years ago when he he was over a PPG.

He is definitely a high end 2C

im purposely ignoring 3 years ago? lol its 3 years ago i dont really consider that recently. do you? Max Domi also had a great year 3 years ago... i dont see your point? is there one?

"He is definitely a high end 2C" stats say something different.

There is a reason people commonly use 3 year timelines and not 2 (especially 2 shortened seasons) as a timeframe for a sample size.

As for the second part, your stats that ignore the actual situation and just assume he played at 100% health "say something different."
Its like me going and saying this:
Quote:
Kuznetsov is a middle of the road 2C because his stats the last 2 years were:
104 gp 28g 53a 81p ... 0.78ppg or 63p/82gp
48.82CF% 48.08FF% 49.65xGF%

When in reality Kuzy struggled with Covid this year and it hurt his production a lot.

i mean Kuzy play the last 2 years has been average for a 1c ....i would say hes a good 2c. Obviously COVID played a factor or even having 3 coaches in 4 years but im not the type to excuse poor play with excuses . Kuzy being way better than Monahan still was only getting offers for a late 1st and a good prospect on this site. THat even with him carrying Washington to a cup ...... something Monahan hasnt even came close to doing

"ignore the actual situation and just assume he played at 100% health" .... whats to say he's ever going to be 100%? how do you calculate unknown unknowns
