Pretty big win for Minneosta. Pettersson is younger, has had better underlying numbers in his healthy seasons (not that Kaprizov's aren't very good of course) and he plays a harder to find position than Kaprizov. He'll also still be pretty young if Minnesota goes through a pseudo-rebuild the next three years- he'll be 25 and still in his prime, where Kaprizov will be 28 (not old or anything but probably on the outside of his peak), so besides just being generally "younger" he matches up more with their young core and potential window.
Makes sense for Vancouver if they're in a win now mode, which they probably need to be, and Kaprizov is the more dynamic scorer, but leaves a pretty hefty hole at center for them.
