You want to spend $25M+ on your top-3 centers and have Byfield play on the 4th line indefinitely?

Well, I don't think that gets you Eichel. There isn't much projection left in Vilardi (who is going to be a good middle 6 player, but not a top-line guy), you'll probably have to move Byfield if you want to do it with only (1) first-round pick. If you include Turcotte, you'll probably need a 2nd first-round pick.

Agree that vilardi aint the guy, and pushing the first to 23 doesnt work here. Turcotte and a 22 first would certainly start a conversation, probably need another forward prospect, but i dont think it has to be another first.

    I would do this trade:
    Vilardi, Gabriel
    Iafallo, Alex
    Clarke, Brandt
    2022 1st round pick (LAK)
    2022 2nd round pick (LAK)
    For Jack, remove Hinostroza.
Clarke is the RHD prospect Buffalo could use.
Vilardi has mid 6 talent, that fits in perfect with Cozens as top center, Mittelstadt #2 and Vilardi #3.
With Iafallo the Sabres would have the option to either move him or Olofsson for additional assets.

I dont agree that mittelstadt is a top 6. Vilardi doesnt work. Thats just me though.

    OK, let's agree to disagree.
For the last 20 games last year, it appeared we had the early stages of a second line with Asplund, Mittelstadt and Thompson.
While it is a small sample Casey had 17 points in the last 23 games with 9 goals.
He was mis used and mis handled under Krueger (but who was not).
On the other hand, Vilardi has 30 NHL points in 64 games.
Three centers under 22 years old with decent potential has the makings of a rebuild.
Clarke is exactly what Buffalo needs on the right side.
Along with Laaksonen on the right and Dahlin and Power on the left Buffalo could be looking at 8 to 10 years of the best defense in the NHL.

    EDIT:
I make this trade even if Iafallo is not included.
A first and second next year, along with Clark and Vilardi is very close to Jack's value.
