Seems like a good deal if the Ducks weren’t rebuilding

It’s a rebuilding move tho. It makes it easier to move Rakell at the TDL or even earlier and the end goal is to turn Tarasenko into a 1st hopefully. If not the ducks just lose Steel who honestly needs a change of scenery anyways and a 3rd. It’s risk vs reward.

I mean the worst thing that happens is everyone on this team is good again and they make the playoffs but I don’t see even good Tarasenko carrying this team to a drastic difference in the standings.

Fair point. Still I’m sure someone could out bid the Ducks

I just wonder how much value Tarasenko actually has since he hasn’t been traded yet.

I don't think as many teams are clamoring to get Senko as you think. I think St. Louis would take this in a heart beat. Maybe take the conditions off the pick and just make it a second tho.

And on the rebuilding point you made, the Ducks are mid rebuild. Its smart too add a few *good* players too help development.

Only reason I put the conditions is if he re-injures the shoulder which is probably the biggest sticking point in a trade right now.
