My best guess is they start off with no captain and maybe after half a season or so someone shows the combination of talent and team attitude to warrant getting the C

They should strip it. Give it to a hard working 3-4th liner that actually shows hard work and determination and acts like a true professional until one of the excellent prospects is proven and ready for such a position. Eichel has been a bigger problem than any sort of solution for Buffalo it’s going to be great for the franchise to move on.

Would this report indicate that eichel is on his way out or that buffalo is done with his antics?

I agree. Reason why i think rangers should name kreider or trouba captain as well

I doubt Buffalo will officially strip Eichel of the captaincy like ripping off someone's strips in dishonor -what they will probably do if/when Eichel fails his physical is put him on IR or LTIR send him home and ignore him - if Eichel passes his physical then things could get all kind of strange - I saw an interview with Eichel the day after the Sabres last game and it did not look like his neck was bothering him in the least, now I know that a interview is not the same as playing hockey but he was turning his head back and forth and laughing and gesturing - people who have seen him skating and practicing or working out haven't reported like he was a shell of his former self - I don't doubt he was injured but was the severity of the injury hyped up?

I heard he was on the west coast this week looking for medical advice, but he got the same mixed bag hes been getting everywhere else, no consensus. Whether he goes with the sabres wishes or goes rogue here, i expect him to get something done in time to be ready for the olympics. Which means he can still duck the dog for a few more weeks either way. Then he hopefully looks real good, appropriate offers come in, and he gets traded. Or he looks rusty/hurt, he sits out the rest of the season, and we start over in april.

My close family friend had the same injury and he hid his actual pain a lot. It bothered him for months and he didnt tell his family until the end and once he got his surgery he was much better. I wouldnt hope for anyone to get this

As a hockey fan, I just want to see him play and be healthy. Dont want any player to miss out on their career becuase of an injury that could be fixed

Be interesting to know how many of these experts told him- no surgery, is the right choice. I figure they all wanna do the surgery, when youre a carpenter, everythings a nail.

At this point, i think its just a matter of time. Either he gets the fusion like the sabres want, or he gets the adr and he gets to shoulder all of the risks. Honestly, im wondering if other teams are the ones driving the fusion, like maybe they are saying 'we dont wanna risk the adr, so we are lowering our offer'. Really, hes not adams problem once hes traded, why would he care which procedure he gets?

With the way he has acted in the last year. Especially with the lock room clean out mess and his social media antics he is no leader. They should go with someone that has earned it.

"What treatments are available?
Conservative nonsurgical treatment is the first step to recovery and may include medication, rest, massage, physical therapy, home exercises, hydrotherapy, chiropractic care, and pain management. Over 95% of people with arm pain due to a herniated disc improve in about six weeks and return to normal activity. If you don't respond to conservative treatment or your symptoms get worse, your doctor may recommend surgery.

Nonsurgical treatments
Self care: In most cases, the pain from a herniated disc will get better within a couple days and completely resolve in 4 to 6 weeks. Restricting your activity, ice/heat therapy, and taking over the counter medications will help your recovery
Medication: Your doctor may prescribe pain relievers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), and steroids. Sometimes muscle relaxers are prescribed for muscle spasms.

I have seen any medical reports, but 95% of the cases are resolved with therapy, medication and rest.
This is not a crippling injury, it is painful, but with medication the pain could be managable.
