So the Caps will loan Malenstyn to Hershey as a corresponding move for Cholowski. Malenstyn does not need waivers. This leaves McMichael, Irwin, and Cholowski as likely scratches for the near future. It will get interesting, especially in salary cap terms, once Backstrom returns.

Caps with sending down McMichael and Irwin with Backstrom on the roster is 42,094 over the cap, with some of the LTIR they've accumulated, they could be fine, Lapierre also could be getting a 9 game tryout before being sent to juniors to keep his contract slide eligible
