Guess what another Eichel trade

Created by: eddyed24
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2021
Published: Sep. 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'll try to explain why a trade in Columbus could make sense for both teams. Just tell me guys, is it enough, not enough and based on my explanation does it make sense.

Columbus:
A top 6 of Laine, Eichel, Voracek and Nyquist, Roslovic, Bjorkstrand could be interesting for Columbus without sacrifing one major player or top prospects and without losing a 1st round pick this year. Yes they lose Peeke who got top 4 potential but to get a player of his caliber you got to give something. Plus they still Werenski, Boqvist, Gavrikov and Bean which is not bad.

Buffalo:
They get Domi who could be their 1st center to start the season if healthy or during his return and if Mittelstadl and/or Cozens perform well they could shift Domi in the LW. Since he's got one year left they could flip him at the trade deadline for a pick/prospect. They also receives a upgrade in net in Korpisalo who keeps the seats warm for Luukoonen. With Elvis signing a long term contract, Korpisalo seems on his way out and could also be trade at the deadline. Now for the long term, Peeke got top 4 potential and could start as soon as this season to play there. Their future top 4 could be Dahlin, Jokiharju, Power and Peeke. Not bad plus they're all 23 and younger. Bemstrom didn't seem to get much opportunities in Columbus. He's still young with room to grow and Buffalo is the perfect place for opportunities. They also get a 1st and second round.

Not enough value going to BUF. Domi & Korpisalo are also on expiring contracts, I would assume BUF is looking for futures so that means 1st round picks and top prospects.

That is without question the most reasonable eichel trade I’ve seen on this site.

Agreed. Although the Sabres would really need.to gauge what the market values of Domi and Korpisalo would be for it to make sense.

Domi at half retention has a high water mark of a 2nd I think. Korpisalo in a sign and trade situation has a high water mark of a late 1st I think...... depending on how they look of course.

Agree with you. Though too many it doesn't look like much to the Sabres, they do have some potential low cost futures. But more important after this season, they have cleared 10m to cap space to sign other players.
This type of trade is going to be about the best the Sabres will get.

I could easily see Buffalo wanting to keep korp for the long haul. Flip domi at deadline.

Domi doesn't have a lot of value and Korpisalo is a cap dump. This trade is ridiculous - it's not close to the value of Eichel. Thirty other teams would outbid this easily.

I could see them keep both guys. Domi can play lw on the first or second line and be a upgrade or center if Cozens or Mittelstadt.
Korpisalo staying in Buffalo depending on Luukkonen performance in the ahl. If he gets good numbers, trade Korpi and get Luuko some starts after the tdl, if not try to keep him or a short contract. On a trade they could get a late 1st or 2nd round for these guys.

For a guy just stripped.of the captaincy and a failed physical?

Adams has botched this beyond all recognition.

Gauging Eichel's value is about as easy as crossing the border right now

I’d like to know what many gms view this situation with eichel as. I’d also like to be a fly on the wall with meetings with the medical staff I think it’s pretty clear there is details about the surgery that aren’t public knowledge and more career threatening than we are lead to believe. I’m not saying it’s probable career threatening but bigger uncertainty and unknown until after the surgery is done. Why else would Buffalo not just get it done and have him capable of passing the physical increasing his value significantly. There is more to this than we know.
