It was a good offer before. Taking the C away means nothing
Loosing captaincy wasnt what changed his perceived value, it was him fail8ng the physical. Prior to this Eichel kinda had 2 different values. One where he’s healthy and one where he’s not (Schrodinger's hockey player). Now that it has been 100% confirmed he is not clear to play we have a better idea on what his value is (not us specifically but GM's do)

both of those things should have been expected in May when this started, I dont know why any one is shocked right now
Im not shocked its more like Adam's lost those cards to play now. Cant be as picky on a return
I see no reason why Adams has to change his strategy. Losing Eichel to UFA is better than getting fleeced in another trade. Adams has to worry about his face more than just getting something back

I am not saying to get fleeced, I am saying he can't be declining deals like the above anymore for example

any team would have had him looked at and his medical records reviewed before a trade went through anyway. It was widely accepted he needed surgery and the his value was predicated on that. Not his captaincy or if he is healthy (we knew he wasn't) the gamble was always gonna be if he is the same after the surgery.

That's not entirely true, teams did have access to his medical records yes, but it was also well known that Eichel was skating and reported said he was feeling great. the records only update when a test takes place and that is what just occurred

Eichel failing his physical has changed this entire situation by exactly 0%. It has literally been known for days if not weeks that he would fail his physical since he is not willing to get the surgery the sabres doctors were recommending to him months ago. Since they can't agree on a path of treatment = failing physical.
This changes nothing as far as cards/ leverage/ etc in the trade market.

Wait. A guy that missed 30+ games with a neck injury, was diagnosed with a neck injury and needs neck surgery, all known all off season, failed his physical??? It was a 100% lock for months. Nothing changed yesterday...

He's not in a freaking wheelchair lol, he's literally been skating and training all summer, there was definitely a chance of him passing
