yeah i was unaware that removing a C on a jersey kills a guys value... i mean he's wanted out for a long time now this just seems logical by the Sabres

I think the surprise comes in not because it's an illogical thing to do, it's just something that doesn't seem to happen in hockey. When was the last time a player was stripped of the C without it being immediately placed on someone else? Or at least with there being a clear candidate to replace him? Also, the fact that the only real action that has happened in this saga is a captaincy being stripped is just another thing to add to the fire.
