IF only the owner spent money how L Brown could have been moved

Created by: NDoody
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2021
Published: Sep. 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is unlikely because Melnyk would probably never pay the 9.5 Taransenko is due this season in actual cash, however would help push the team into more of a winning mode and help young forward prospects learn from a proven goal scorer, which Dadonov couldn't do.

If he stays healthy and puts up a bunch of points as i mention in trade maybe he stays, but after a couple of season sens could replace him with Boucher or another prospect.

I put Tierney in 2C only cause he is in camp and the 2 line would need a defensive forward to balance the line out, but I could also see Pinto taking that spot, get in face offs and gets the line more possession time and has shown he can be a good playmaker and rack up the A''s with those two.

Trades
OTT
  1. Tarasenko, Vladimir
Additional Details:
He wants out, he gets a fresh start, gets a ton of points with Stuztle, then if it doesn't work out with him staying he can sign elsewhere and sens prospects are ready to fill the spot. Probably too old as a long-term solution, but could help the team push for playoffs.
STL
  1. Brännström, Erik
  2. Brown, Logan
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Brown goes back to where he grew up and gets a second chance to blossom. Branstrom most likely is expendable here, but if it could be done without him and add more picks then do it. Add more picks to make it work either way if needed.

OTT declines, too much for such a risk, maybe brown and a conditional 2nd based on games played.

It is a risk, I like adding the Conditional on the pick, and well as I mentioned in the trade details I would prefer to keep Brannstrom, I think it could get done without him, but I was more trying to be nice for the St. Louis fans.

He wants out, we will see how is play is this season, and the Blues could use the cap space. Your D is fairly stacked so Brannstrom probably is not helping, but Brown at 6'6 could become a great physical depth LW or C on the cheap.

Blues would and should take this in my opinion. Tarasenko wants out and we need cap help. Brannstrom is a young somewhat promising D at a position of need for the Blues. Logan Brown might not turn out but might as well take a flier. Blues aren't retaining salary and Tarasenko doesn't want to be there.

However, don't think Melnyk does it and not sure tarasenko would accept the trade

This is definitely an overpay by Ottawa for an injury prone player on a 7 mill contract with 2 years left. Brannstrom should easily get a better forward than that in return

No chance Tarasenko is worth anything close to that right now, or he'd be traded already...

The Blues are going to have him on the team because the offers are probably too underwhelming

lol imagine how lopsided this trade could/would be once Brannstrom is more established and IF Logan stays healthy and finally become a regular... Plus that 2nd round pick

Not only that, Tarasenko has a 9.5 salary this season. He played 27% of the Blues games of the last 2 seasons

Teams will wait to see if he's capable of staying healthy and will prefer to acquire him at the deadline when the money owed will be lower.

In hindsight, I would say Brown and a conditional pink on games played is the right value. At that value, he could be worth it to help Stuztle grow and help push the offense until ottawa has more RW prospects that are top 6 ready. Brannstrom seems to have a similar problem, but I would rather keep him as I can see a Brannstrom - JDB 2nd pairing looking really nice.

I would love brown to become a solid full-time center but it just doesn't seem like it is happening.

I doubt Logan Brown will play very long for Ottawa but I could easily see him do well enough in the NHL to have a spot. He has a size/skill/vision package that you just can't teach. I have seen him plenty in the NHL but also in the AHL. He just has to stay healthy and play with skilled players who can handle high velocity passes and convert on some scoring chances

He's not a Sens type. His game is built around finesse, not enough "balls to the wall" demeanor. I'm seriously not even sure they'd pick Mike Hoffman on waivers for free (let's say he wouldn't have an history here)

If you could get this much value for Tarasenko, then Seattle would have taken him
