Norlinder isn't making the team, especially not in a top4 role

idk if its completely impossible for him to make the team but certainly agree if he sees the ice it will be on the third pairing and maybe a bit of PP time. I think if he has a strong camp he could crack the roster but at best its a long shot given everything whats been reported on his defensive game needing some work. He probably spends this season back in Sweden.

Yeah i honestly think another season of development won't hurt him. I'd rather see him arrive later but absolutely ready rather than try to develop him in the big league. We saw him in rookie camp, his offensive potential is huge but he still has a lot to work on defensively, he has not been dominant among the rookies. Also, I think the KK drama may encourage the training staff to take their time with prospects.

ya i think thats the safer route for sure. Romanov probably couldve made the roster a year earlier then he did but i dont think it wouldve helped him.

I think the best would be to convince him staying in Laval so he can adjust to North American hockey style. But I don't think it's the plan

Habs just announce Sami Niku's signature. Kind of obvious Norlinder isn't making the team

He cant stay in the AHL he is on loan from Sweden for the NHL or he returns, which is unfortunate.

I agree with this thinking in general, but not the KK comp.
KK was 18 and played when his ELC could have otherwise slid for 2 years. Norlinder signed his ELC a year late at 21 when most start at 20.

Completely unrelated. Niku plays in Laval. Norlinder can’t cause of his European out clause.
