No thanks. Gurianov is good but not good enough to give up a 1st and your best LD prospect when you consider that he will demand more money than the Caps can afford next year and they already have a 2LW in Mantha.

I think he could be a 35+ goal scorer with guys like backstrom and others around him

IMO, trading Gurianov is very risky. I think that under Bowness he will not reach his potential. But give him a playmaker and put him on the Top 6, and he could score 30 to 40 goals.

I would rather get rid of Bowness and hire a modern coach that would play NOW our future 1st line for the next decade: Gurianov-Hintz-Robertson.

Thats quite possible, but the salary cap just wouldn't allow it. They would need to probably move one of Mantha, Oshie, or Orlov to make it work and I doubt they give up on Mantha so soon, that Oshie waives his NTC, or that they give up on orlov, which the Caps seem to have an obsession with keeping no matter what. I don't think its worth the risk when you consider all of the downsides.

Maybe. Adding Gurianov gives some better scoring but doesn't help the potentially weak left side of the defense. This team would need a good amount of momentum, the defense to outperform all expectations, and the goaltending to be solid throughout to have a good chance at the cup. In my opinion, Gurianov just isn't the best addition if your giving away Alexeyev and a 1st, as I would much rather have a good LD to replace Orlov or Kempny than a winger that fills the exact same role as Mantha.

So we trade them both for Middling returns? Jokes aside, While I can see that being true, I just don't its the right move for the caps given the salary cap and positional needs.
