Chris Wideman has some competition. Should be a good 3rd pairing D to partner with Chiarot, plus he’s an RFA after this year.

Great no risk signing for the habs.

Good depth, hopefully he gets a chance to play decent minutes and show that he can be a good player in this league

He had some competition in that department with Perreault, and now both of them are in Montreal.
The battle continues...

Damn, was hoping the Caps could have picked him up. Regardless, great no risk signing by Bergevin.

Don't know why but I had a strong feeling he'd end up with us after the loss of Brook, seeing the contract structure it's likely that he sticks with the team by the end of the camp.

Would have loved for him to be in Columbus.

-Friends with Patrik Laine, which could have a bit of weight to keep him here

-Depth at RD

-Inexpensive to sign

-Finnish

Romanov has a mane as well. Maybe they'll play together on the 3rd hairing.

Absolutely thrilled to have him. AHL defensemen of the year at 20 and then thrown in a two way role when he's clearly an OFD. Let's hope Montreal (or Laval) plays him the way they are suppose to.

Depth cant hurt at RHD, their weakest position.

Fleury's gone, Brook stalled, Mailloux should be traded away ASAP.

Smart. Was hoping the Oil would bring him in as a tweener option. Not many offensive guys from the 6-9D slots in Edmonton who can add much offense (Russell, Koekkoek, Lagesson, Berglund). Niki has that side of his game.

He's left-handed but plays right side, he's one of those guys

That's how weak the prospect pool at the position is!

When your 4 best RD prospects are LHD... Niku, Harris, Norlinder and Romanov (kinda).👍

It's for those kind of comments that I wish Mailloux becomes a stud defender. I respect much of your comments but that's just dumb.

That's just at mean and undeserved comment on your part.

Not "sharing nudes without conscent" level of mean and undeserved, but still.

IMO MTL wiped off the shame of drafting him with their logo and should sell high on him for immediate help, before he becomes a bad media distraction or a bad role model in the years to come.

I don't believe he will become a Disney story of maturity and redemption by hooking up in Montreal bar scene. (I highly recommend though 😜). You can't put aside passed stories of MTL 1sts rounders.

That's not dumb, that's risk management.

Niku had great potential, it’s too bad he didn’t pan out with Winnipeg

Honestly didn't think another NHL team would pick him up. Sounds like he had character issues with Winnipeg, next thing you know his contract gets terminated and he gets picked up by the guy who drafted Logan Mailloux, go figure

Whatever the case though, I see this guy being on his way out of the league and back to Finland sooner rather than later, he's never going to be anything more than a depth defenseman
