It's because he hasn't once been linked to Detroit.

Also I don’t think Detroit should be trading any high picks the next 2 years

Change the title to "A destination that should be talked about less"

Detroit is doing an excellent job in their rebuild. They don't need to trade picks/prospects to speed up their rebuild

In 2-4 years, this Detroit team is going to be scary

Like everyone else has said, Detroit shouldn't be gunning for Eichel. He would force the rebuild to speed up which isn't a good thing. Detroit could use high picks in the loaded drafts. Plus, they keep their picks and are basically guaranteed a potential franchise cornerstone at best and an elite player at worst (assuming the players live up to their projections). Additionally, whoever they get with their picks will line up with the Detroit window much better.

Eichel is coming up at that age where the only teams that should be going for him are already in their window or are entering it. Detroit, Anaheim, Ottowa, etc shouldn't be going for him.

I dont think this move in particular is one they need to make but I think detroit is getting way more credit than they deserve just because Yzerman. I dont like their forward group at all, their d men are a few years out, save maybe Seider, Cossa as a full time NHLer is about 4 years out minimum, putting Larkin and their current forwards at 30 years old by the time their prospects make an impact. They should definitely be thinking about trading picks and prospects to bolster the forward prospect/NHL group

I was about to slightly disagree with you, but then I pulled up their roster and realized you're absolutely right. I didn't realize how close they are to entering their Larkin/Vrana/Suter window without a fledged out roster. Their better rookies are too young to get good enough to actually make that window a possibility, while Larkin and gang are going to be on the wrong side of 30 by the time those rookie are ready.

The one thing I'd disagree with though is that it won't be a good idea to trade to bolster the Larkin window, but would be better to trade Larkin/Vrana/etc to bolster the Cossa/Edvinsson/etc window. Extend the rebuild another couple years to pick up great players in the next few drafts instead of missing out on that chance.

Yes because no player has won their first cup past 30. Yzerman was in his 30s and he was the #2C when he won his 1st cup.

That's one way to go but if I was Detroit I might go the opposite way and look at what Minn was offering for Eichel and see what you could get for Larkin

Larkin (25), Hronek (23), Vrana (25), Bertuzzi (26)

To go with Seider, Raymond, Berggren, Edvinsson, Cossa, Johansson, Veleno, etc.

Pretty comparable to me
