Pretty awful for buffalo. Burakovsky is a pending ufa, byram is a left d- a position we just dont need, and a late first in 2 years. How could we possibly turn that down?

Eichel will be fine, stop trying to be a doomsayer, no one is that shortsighted

This is a great way to become the Maple Leafs. Too many top heavy contracts that they won't be able to fill out their depth. With this trade, They'll have Makar, MacKinnon (assuming he takes a very friendly contract of 10 mil), Landeskog, Rantanen, Eichel, and Girard all taking up significant amount of cap. That is just over one forward line, and one pair of D taking up about 62% of cap space in three years. This isn't even counting Newhook, Johnson, Byram, Compher all will be on new contracts then, and its likely most of them will be relatively large. At that point, and extra 5 mil or so will be important. I'm high on Eichel, but with MacKinnon, the Avs don't need him.

So much wrong here. Why would BUF not want Newhook as the primary piece of focus in an Eichel trade? Why would COL sell Kadri for next to nothing? And how does this trade make the Avs better in 2 yrs when they have to re-sign MacK?

You don’t know that though, it’s not a lock he will be easily back to healthy, he has a long road ahead of him no matter what surgery route he goes through.

There is a legit health risk with him at the moment,

You can’t guarantee that, you don’y have his medical records, you do he know what procedure he will ultimately get or how long his recovery is

No but he is having a major neck injury left untreated bc the Sabres ownership have botching the handling of it, he hasn't been able to participate with on ice training for 6-8 months now and this will continue until he is able to get a surgery

Its a major concern, Eichel may not be the same player he was when he comes back, if that is this year or could even be next year at this rate. He will be missing a full year of his prime years

Thats he denial part, there is some very weighted outcomes to his injury that needs to happen, nothing is guaranteed yet
