Why would Buffalo accept this deal?

No young stars, no picks, no way.

MB is't trading Gallagher after just resigning him, No picks isn't going to happen either. Fat chance of Adams dealing Eichel to the Habs without one of Suzuki or Caufield going the other way.

Why would Montreal do it for an injured 10M high risk player? Eichel would be great but he is not worth half this package in his current shape. The risk is too great for any team to do this type of package. Otherwise it would have already been completed. Also IF Buffalo gets picks/prospects they will be prospects NOT in the NHL right now and the picks will be conditional on Eichel playing 50 games and getting 70 points.

Tyler Seguin when traded to Dallas was that type of deal and Seguin was healty. Tyler Seguin is a 2nd overall pick just like Eichel.

You forget one main component of that deal, Peter Chiarelli was the GM of Boston. He is considered by many on this site and in the NHL as one of the worse GM's in this era.

No, we aren't trading Gally away, and I doubt he will waive his NMC to go to one of the worst teams in the league. Have you seen how bad we were when Gally was injured?
And why are we trading Romanov, he is the future core of our defence

When Seguin was traded from Boston, the Bruins had two top centers in their prime, Bergeron and Krejci and needed wingers, to make a run in the playoffs.
Buffalo is in a total rebuild having already trading Reinhart and Ristolainen while also shopping Eichel.
Several other differences, Boston received two top 6 forwards Eriksson and Smith the only top six in this trade is Gallager.
Second, Jack is significantly better than Tyler.
Third, this trade includes two LHD. Edmundson would be competing with Butcher for a spot, so he is not needed and Harris would be behind Prospects Power, Samuelsson, Bryson and Johnson, so he is not needed.
Fourth Tuch is a LW prospect. he would fall behind prospects Rosen, Poltapov, Peterka, Murray, Weissbach, and Biro.
This is actually an incredibly poor return for Jack and Buffalo is trying to rebuild.
Other than Suzuki and Caufield, Montreal does not have the young talent that Buffalo needs.
IMO once Bergevin got Dvorak, he used the assets that could have been used to get Jack.

He made many questionable trades with Edmonton, but he did a pretty good job when he was the Bruins GM, until he missed the playoffs his last year.

I feel awful for Sabres fans, because their team is in such a tough position with this. No team is going to trade for him without knowing that he's healthy enough to both play again and play at the level that warrents his cap hit. That's just the reality. Just my opinion, but I am surprised that they haven't let him get the surgery he wants, and if I am Eichel I hold out until I get that surgery: it's his body, and while the CBA lets teams have control over a player's medical procedures, the spirit of that is, in reality, not for major injuries that can affect the future health and life of a player (like, for instance, a spinal injury). This is a big deal: if it weren't, he would have been traded by now. This has been ugly, and will continue to be ugly. What's the over/under on the which party caves when it comes to the surgery he gets? I'm probably not taking Eichel, it it certainly seems as though Adams has dug his heels in. Eichel will, at minimum, have to miss the Olympics, and if he doesn't have a surgery soon there is a potential that he misses the entire season. He may never play at the same level (the $10 million dollar per season level) or even play at all. This is his life.

This is all to say that no Sabres fan asked for this. Their is a good chance they're not going to win this trade. The Sabres are also looking to be historically bad this season, and while they have some good prospects, the winning seasons probably will not happen for at least another 3 years (? too liberal, though? Maybe 4-5?). And now the odds are they won't win an Eichel trade. I feel for those fans.
