A question to Hawks fans

Created by: EccE
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 27, 2021
Published: Sep. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A couple days back I saw an offer something along the lines of this. I think we will move Greenway anyway before 22-23, and Strome would give us immediate help at C, allowing Rossi to either start in the minors or play a bit more sheltered minutes.

Strome has struggled recently and the Hawks have a surplus of good centers. In Greenway, Chicago gets a top6/top9 power forward, who has a lot of potential for more - though he hasn't quite been there yet. Both will be RFAs after this season.

Let me know, what you think, Hawks fans!
Trades
MIN
  1. Strome, Dylan
Additional Details:
The trade is one for one!
CHI
  1. Greenway, Jordan
Additional Details:
Chicago also saves $900,000 in cap space for this season, is that moves the needle.

For all of the faults in both players, Greenway is finding his role and trending up. Strome is much more of a question mark. A much higher ceiling, but still a question mark.

As a Hawks fan, I'm good with this. Stan is messing around with Strome for only god knows why. In camp they either have him as the #3LW or #4C. It's frustrating beyond all belief. If Stan really thinks the Hawks have a #3LW problem...fine, make this trade. Greenway would be great as the #3LW.

Stan Bowman thinks he can spread out scoring evenly on his lines. VGK dominates CHI because all they did was plant Reaves in the front of the net and no one could move him. It’s practically a universal rule in hockey that the fourth line drops the gloves/plays heavy grinder hockey. Yet 3rd overall pick Strome with Potential to be a very effective 2C is simply not that.

Yeah I think Hawks have a surplus of Cs but not a single one is a guarantee. Dach has played two injury riddled, COVID affected seasons. Toews is a question mark. Johnson is past his prime. Strome is a question mark because he’s not great at faceoffs but is even worse as a winger. He’s “more valuable” to the Hawks because of those other three.

I just don't know what Stan's doing with him. To send Strome down to the prospects B/C game is a bit ridiculous. It feels like Stan's going out of his way to rub Strome's face in the dump he just took on the rug. Strome isn't a winger, and that experiment failed twice earlier, but sure enough to start camp Strome's back at the #3LW. Which turned into the #4C with Khaira/Carpy...which resulted in the embarrassing ISO video Powers took of Strome completely disinterested anything hockey related which turned into the #1C...on the prospect team.

I still don't think Greenway ends up being more than Coyle was for the Wild, but if they end up trading him, I'd rather it be for a prospect and/or picks instead of a guy who has been underwhelming on 2 teams now.

I think that’s an accurate assessment. Being Charlie Coyle isn’t a bad thing either, it’s just not the power forward everyone wants him to be.

I think he’s realizing his role and learning how to get better at that. I get a sense he doesn’t have the skill to play with a Boldy/Rossi type which is why he didn’t play well the other night. Let’s call it the Bonino effect.

The thing with Coyle was he was wildly inconsistent with the Wild and never showed up come playoff time, but Fletcher stuck with him because he was the centerpiece in the Burns trade so he needed him to pan out so the trade didn't look so bad (especially after Setoguchi and Phillips didn't work out here). If Greenway was consistently a middle 6 winger who you could count on to be one of your go to PKers while chipping in some scoring, I'd be happy with that. He just hasn't been able to do that just yet and it's frustrating because it seems like with Coyle, he'll have lost all trade value before the team is finally willing to move on. Hopefully Guerin isn't as attached as Fletcher was since he didn't draft him.
