This trade idea is such an overreaction. He’s a young player and this vaccination mandate probably won’t be a thing next season. He is young and has every right to make a decision that he believes effects his own health directly.
Then you go into the bigger question, if you trade Blackwood, who starts a majority of games. Bernier signed as a 1B and shouldn’t be playing more than half of a season. Daws is also really raw so that trade sets the team back a couple years or more

Good job. That means absolutely nothing to his “free country” remark.

You’d think someone like that would have a better understanding of why the majority of the political figures he follows are full of ****.

He's clearly the unvaccinated player. We really don't need the distraction and the BS surrounding it. Just trading him for a first and whatever is the best thought. Cut the cancer out.

Bishop gonna be sitting on ur LTIR cuz hes made out of glass.

You're right. It is a cancer. As in, the fact that people are being forced too get a vaccine. I don't know about you but I live in a free country. (And before you say anything, I am vaccinated)

The NHL isn’t a country, it’s a private business. They have the right to limit employees exposure to other employees to keep them safe. They have not mandated a vaccination. However, there are a plethora of rules that are all very valid that will limit players ability to play if they aren’t vaccinated. If a team knows that they’re going to be without their goalie for any games in canada, and likely many more given the likelihood of contact tracing issues, it’s completely valid to want that diminished asset traded.

The mandate (and it isn’t really a mandate) is likely to be around for many, many years.

Don’t make this about politics. It shouldn’t be. The argument is leagues/teams have a right to limit players activity if they aren’t vaccinated, and teams should want their players to be able to play.

Lol you guys are funny.

This is a 100% political post based on the assumption that because Blackwood follows Trump, Kirk and other extreme anti-vax republicans he’s the unvaccinated layer alluded to in a tweet.

Also claiming a person doesn’t need to be vaccinated because it’s a free country is bringing in politics.

tgasp-You are right, but if the things noted, mom is a nurse, he have covid bad, would all lead to avoiding that at all costs. I know, stop he's got immunity etc. He does until he doesn't, and each person is different. If his antibodies are weaker or non existent, he runs the risk of getting the delta variant again. At least with being vaxxed it lessens the severity and in most case keeps you out of hospital or off a vent. Ask Alex Stalock
CMcAvoy-It shouldn't be, but it many cases it is. And honestly, if it walks like a duck! MackBlack does follow a lot of people who are anti this whole thing
Lastly the comments about its only 8 games. Remember how Boston fans got on Tukka Rask for opting out of the bubble (when his kid had health issues I believe). That would ever be good especially if this team gets on a tear only to have him not be able to play and Benier does not rise to the challenge.
Lots of what if's and good on Devs for not throwing someone under the bus, but info wont be private much longer.

Thats the point man. You can turn it away from that pretty easily. If we’re going to argue politics this place will suck.

Instead you can operate like this:
The league is allowed to place restrictions on unvaccinated players.
Unvaccinated players won’t be able to play in certain games, and that will hurt the team.

Oh, i fully believe McKenzie is a wackadoo, but we don’t have to talk about it like that. We can turn it from politics to practical asset management.

Bruins fans get on tuukka for everything because they’re morons.

One point that was brought up somewhere was the possible heart condition that has shown up in younger people that have gotten the vaccine after a bout with covid. You’d have to think that had come into play with his decision after how bad he had it last year. I’m sure he has a ton of high profile people in his ears for both sides and isn’t making this a political move like everyone tries to make it seem.
This is his choice to make for his health as well as his career and NJ has the right to react accordingly, but trading him just because of this for pennies on the dollar is not the right move as this post has shown

If this is a vaccination thing, just stop.

First, as far I have seen, there is nothing more than speculation that Blackwood is the unvaccinated player.
Second, if it is Blackwood and he misses 8 games, its not the end of the world. There was zero chance he would play 74+ games anyway.
Third, there is no distraction. Media wants clicks and eyeballs...but everything on the ice will be the same.

Move along

It's Blackwood???? Thank God, thought it might have been Wedgewood.

This is a personal health decision...one that everyone has the right to make.
He had COVID quite bad. His mother works in health care.
He has every right to make decisions about his own health, his own body. And they should be respected.
And the NHL has every right to restrict him.

Its not always about politics.

(BTW, I am fully vaccinated and generally encourage everyone to get vaccinated if they are eligible)

Well, about 1/3 are American...probably only half those are politically active.
But, yeah, most are probably moderately right-of-center ideologically.
As are most NHL fans.

It has not been confirmed that Blackwood is the unvaccinated player. This is an assumption based on his political leanings. 100% a political post.

Fully Bode's right to not get vaccine.
Fully Lou's right to send him elsewhere.

But I doubt either is doing what they are doing to exercise their politics.

I believe Blackwood's name has been put out there since it was a "core player" and all the other "core players" have commented publicly about it.
His name has been inferred by deduction.
I don't think politics has anything to do with this.

I don't mean all are political crazy but everyone has too lean one way or another, weather you accept it and learn about it is another thing. But yeah, you said what I meant. Most are rightwing, and I agree most hockey fans are too. This site has really made me second guess that though.

Don't agree ... as the great Chris Rock once said .... "there are things that I'm liberal about and there are things that I'm conservative about" ... its certainly possible to be both without leaning in either direction.
