Ottawa has too many LHD on the roster already AND Sanderson joining them at the end of his UND season. Acquiring Kulak makes no sense.

I don't think Guhle will be in Montreal this season, if I was to guess he is headed to Laval. Norlinder on the other hand has played well and has the European out clause so I see him making it if a trade or injury happens or if they play Chiarot on the right side.

Depth. You always need more D than you think. And he’s better than Mete. You have the cap space. Ottawa could be sneaky good this year if key players stay healthy.

I'm sure keeping Guhle to give him 8 minutes of TOI on average on a third pairing with Wideman is the best thing for his development instead of sending him back as the captain of Prince Albert.

Thomas Chabot
Jake Sanderson (will join the team after college season)
Erik Brannstrom (he's not RD like listed on CF)
Tyler Kleven (how many years away?)

stop gaps :

Michael Del Zotto
Victor Mete
Nick Holden
Dillon Heatherington
Jonathan Aspirot

Even if you don't count Sanderson and Kleven (still very young), there's already 7 D-men who could play LD this season. LD and LW are the 2 positions already logjammed, for the rest it will depend (goalie position will be logjammed for the foreseeable future too)

Mete has played really well after being claimed by the Sens. Maybe it's the change of scenery, different expectations but he was playing pretty safe, using his speed and making smart plays

Even if Kulak was better, he would just add to the logjam. The LD situation in Ottawa is Chabot-Sanderson for the foreseeable future. They expect those 2 to give them near 50 minutes of quality per game... There's no need for a lot of LD depth. They don't want to play Brannstrom on RD for technical reasons so he might be the odd-man out because he'll need top-4 minutes to realize his potential. Not sure how they'll manage Tyler Kleven but he looks like a beast in the making

What past mistakes?

Kotkaniemi? He forced his way onto the roster, had a very solid rookie season. Kotkaniemi then had multiple seasons where he burnt out long before the season was over. Somehow he still had an ego, and forced his way out of the organization...

What other player was rushed? Every team has players force their way onto teams, Montreal is no different.

There's no opening to play meaningful minutes, do you really want him to be a third pairing guy instead of a minute muncher in his league?

3rd pairing should be seeing at least 15min a game, thats not nothing.
