Obviously, this is all speculative as injuries can alter both cap space and trade needs. However, if this lineup stays the same then the Bruins will have considerable space to make moves at the deadline. Existing contracts will have been tolled by 80% and new contracts will be pro-rated to 20%. Bringing back Rask is a guarantee and with the Czech Extraliga regular season ending before the deadline, there is a chance that Krejci comes back as well. I can only sign the two at the minimum $750K, which would be pro-rated from $3.75MM. Both will sign for far less than that. Right now, I think the only other need would be a sturdy RHD. My favorite trade option among impending UFA's is Josh Manson, whose $4.1MM hit will be down to $820K (Again, I can only reduce it to $2.05MM via retention, but it will be even less). To accommodate that cap, Rask and Krejci would have to come in at a combined pro-rated $819K, which is $4MM full-year. $2MM apiece for 20% of the regular season and the postseason is more than reasonable for Rask and Krejci. In fact, I would expect it to be even lower. And just like that everyone fits. The Bruins can also add all three to the roster on deadline (assuming no injuries) by sending down Swayman and putting Moore and Wagner on waivers. No one is likely to bite on either, especially if they are benchwarmers all season. Paper demotion for those three can then be used down the stretch to manage cap expenses as well. There you have it - a cap compliant, super deep lineup for a Cup run.
