Finding a number one center

Created by: andmei
Team: 2017-18 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 3, 2017
Published: Mar. 5, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade 1: I heard in a Blues chat that it wouldn't be surprising if Steen's name came up this offseason. Why WPG? Something isn't working there. They have the talent, but can't seem to put it all together. Steen would provide a veteran presence in their locker room for a relatively young team. He's also very responsible on D. To top it all of he grew up around WPG and may thrive playing there.

Trade 2: I know this is kinda a cop out but basically any team who'd be willing to take on a contract who they'd use to reach the cap floor. I'm sure Arizona could use some center depth too (I don't really know).

Signing Parenteau gives the Blues some nice scoring depth at a relatively cheap price.

Little isn't a number 1 center by any means.

Doesn't mean they will win the cup. He a 2C at best on any other team.

No point for Winnipeg to do this. You say they have center depth, except Ehlers isn't a center. Steen just gives them an old, more expensive winger that won't produce as much. The draft picks don't matter to Winnipeg since there prospect pool is already stacked as is.

The point for the Jets would be too make some sort of change, as they haven't been successful with this core group. As for Ehlers, I could of sworn he played center but after looking I guess not, that's my bad.

I'm not by any means suggesting Little is the missing pice to a Blues cup.... Its all about improving the center core and finding someone to play with 91.

Yeah ok. But if you want to win, you're gonna need a franchise C.

Can't see Arizona wanted to pay 4.25m for the very average Lehtera. Blues are stuck for a while with their cap because they gave big contracts for average play.

If the Blues were to move Steen it would likely be to a contender that needs veteran leadership. Winnipeg is still building. The defense is not good. The defensemen they have are mostly offensive and lack defense. Steen won't make a difference there. A good place for Steen would be Montreal or Ottawa. Both teams need more scoring and his flexibility as a winger and a center would be a huge help.

The Jets need a goalie and maybe some D changes but they definitely do not have an issue up front.
