Sabres accept, Kings decline. Now you have Skinner, not great for a rebuild.

If LA takes Skinner you would essentially have to guarantee they’re taking Shane Wright with the 2022 pick they get. Otherwise, absolutely not.

Caufield by himself is more valuable than Keller. We're certainly not adding all those valuable assets on top.

There is no amount of sweetener that you can add to get anyone to take Skinner's contract without retention. Retain 50% and make the 1st round pick Buffalo's non-lottery protected pick and LA might do it.

Welcome to CapFriendly! It's always good to see youngsters getting involved on this site.

As the always reliable @SevenLeg says, Caufield by himself is more valuable than Keller.

You can also usually rely on @Gmonwy and @Ledge_And_Dairy: Jeff Chychrun is one of the top ten, if not top five, defensemen in the League; this would be a hideously uneven exchange even if the seconds were firsts.

Keep trying!

This is basically an AHL squad. There's a bit of a difference between "rebuilding" and blowing the team to shreds.

The Jeff Skinner trade sequence doesn’t make any sense from the Arizona perspective. They gave up a 3rd to take him, then move the pieces they got from buffalo and a fourth to LA in return for another fourth round pick.

Buffalo is stuck with Skinner for the time being they need his contract to stay above the Cap floor and since they are in a rebuild its not worth them giving up the pick. The would be better off trading for Eichel getting him his surgery and trading him at the deadline for gain.
