Why on earth would Tampa want bozak? Zero reasons for lightning to add more forwards.

I have no idea how good that Roy guy is but if there's a JVR-Manson Swap Toronto needs to be getting lots back

Also why do we take Fehr's contract on for a 4th round pick then trade him away with the 4th?

I doubt the Bolts will give away one of their top prospects for Bozak.

The reason Tampa does this is because after shipping out Filpulla (who was overpayed but still important to their team) they lack that 3C behind Stamkos and Johnson also since Toronto retains half the salary, this is likely the cheapest 3C guy they could get. Tough to give up Howden but that's what Toronto would want in order to replenish our center depth

Roy is a decent prospect but it could be switched for Sam Steel or Max Jones. Not quite sure how much Anaheim values this guy. This is more of a frame for the deal not an exact offer.
Then the reason we give up a 4th for vegas to take Fehr is so that we don't loose anyone important in the draft. By acquiring Manson we would want to do 8/1 protection (Rielly, Gardiner, Manson, Carrick, Bozak, Kadri, Brown, Leipsic, Andersen). The Bozak trade wouldn't happen till after the expansion draft so we would need to protect him. Personally I don't mind that we gave up Corrado to essentially make sure none of Leivo, Komorav, Rychel or our other guys get taken if that's what the Fehr trade comes down to.

Sorry James. In a trade, Manson has more value than JVR. And you want Ducks to add. OK, I get you don't like Bozak, but to try to promote Boyle to third line....that's a step backwards.
Why even try to resign Boyle?

2 Northeastern alumni eh? (Manson and Roy) i like it

If tampa offers that then, sure, take it. But i feel he still has a lot of value on the leafs. What if Nylander isn't cut out to be a centre? were screwed

I personally would take JVR for Manson straight up. Hes 25, protected, and just what this team needs. I'm not saying there have equal market value, But Manson would be more valuable to the leafs than JVR

If Vegas takes a 4th to not take Komarov, Leivo, or Marincin than sure.

BTW Leivo has way more value than Leipsic (RIGHT NOW)

I'm with Nate, Manson has more value. If the Leafs could get a 1 for 1 deal close to the expansion draft than that would be sweet but the Leafs would most likely need to add to get that deal. The better idea may be 1 for 1 with Vatanen. His value seems to be dropping with the emergence of Manson and Montour but would still fill out our toprice 4 pretty nicely.

Bozak with $2MM retained would be a fantastic deal! The downside is that he only has 1 year remaining... I could see Yzerman doing this though (depending on how much he values that prospect - I'm not familiar) because the Lightning would be a legitimate threat to win the Cup next year. Doing so would raise the trade value of everyone in the dressing room - making Tampa's future cap issues much easier to deal with.

It's a bit of a gamble, but not an unreasonable one.

JVR: better than Corey Perry for half the price. He would immediately become the Ducks #1 LW. So of course he isn't worth a depth defenseman + an undersized prospect who likely won't see NHL ice.

Oh, wait!

Hall > JVR
Manson > Larsson

Edmonton screwed everyone by making that deal.

Yup. But no way is Manson better than Larsson. They play in the same division on similar-strength teams, and Larsson's stats are well above. You could even argue that Larsson is better than any Anaheim defenseman at the moment.
