As for the Forsberg deal, I can't see Nashville taking that and even if they would, that doesn't make much sense for our rebuild due to the extension Forsberg is going to get, his age and his likely desire to win a cup sooner rather than later, meaning he'd almost certainly be a rental.

Staal or gusev or bobby Ryan whos on a pto I could see maybe 1 of them if vrana looks out for an extended period of time. What you won't see is one of those guys playing top 6 minutes with guys like raymond and zadina on the 4th line. Id take Forsberg if we had any faith we could sign him. I just dont think we could without a huge overpay and we know yzerman won't do that.

Gusev and Staal would want to play for a rebuilding team probably, or at least Staal, he’d want to play basically anywhere that will offer him a contract. Gusev right now is a PTO for the Maple Leafs but if he can’t crack the roster he could be a Bobby Ryan sort of deal but at the same time he’s younger than Ryan. Forsberg deal, I would think that Namestnikov and Rasmussen could be worth Forsberg. Namestnikov is going to be a traded player at the deadline anyways so they’d give him away for anyone at this point. Forsberg is also a right handed shot like we needed and is easily first line material which is obvious. Plus he’s got one year left so if he’s unhappy then he can just refuse to sign like a normal free agent.

NSH doesn’t consider that, and it doesn’t make sense for DET to trade for him anyway.
