Pulock is signing a long term deal and Isles will be in Playoffs.

If they did trade him have absolutely no interest in Barrie, at least 1st and prospect like Broberg.

He's very underrated so there's a good chance he would go for less than he's worth. The 3rd and 5th could always be removed and EDM could add a B level prospect and/or a mid-late pick.

We already revamped the blueline during offseason making that many more changes threwout the season is playing with fire not letting the group get in sync. I could see Holland add one veteran d at deadline because he always does.
I don’t get the goalie swap only benefit I’m seeing is cap difference but at that point in the year that’s not really a top concern. I’d lean towards kosk being the better more reliable option.

This trade is ONLY if the Isles know Pulock wont resign. The return is good for a rental of his caliber IMO and they need a top 4 replacement for him (Barrie), if Pulock comes with an extension expect him to cost more.

Pulock is a top 20 D in the NHL and Top pair RHD especially are valuable commodities. It would cost one of Holloway/Bouchard and a 2nd even as a rental.

He's not underrated even a little. I've done the research on him. He's garbage. Regardless the Pens have zero cap space for him and worse than either goalie we currently have. He does not upgrade the Pens current situation.

On that contract DeSmith is one of the best goalie assets in the league and on his Koskinen is one of the worst so... uh... what the heck is going on there

Pittsburgh without cap space either

I'm guessing you're talking about the DeSmith trade. The Pens are going to be missing Crosby/Malkin for half the season, the Metro is stacked and they could easily fall out of the playoffs. No the trade doesn't help their situation but DeSmith is looking like the backup and I doubt he's going to carry the pens to the playoffs.

I am talking about the Pens trade and no matter which way you spin it, the Pens don't have the financial room for this trade, so it fails.

Definite no from Winnipeg. They don't have the cap space or need to take on a really bad defenseman with a bad contract.

Ceci was good with the pens and is worth the 3rd as of now, but you're right about them not having cap.

Half of this is just undoing the defensive signings and trades the oilers gm did this off-season. 2 of them are moving players the gm should’ve in the off-season (kassian and koskinen).

Nashville trade is probably close

It’s because he was playing in sheltered minutes and he’d be buried in the minors anyways in Winnipeg

Detroit has no interest in Keith and I doubt he waives for Detroit.

Depending on how he plays this season I think Stecher will get 2nd or a 3rd at the TDL.

Edmonton isn’t trading an A level prospect for a rental. They were even pretty vocal about not wanting to trade 1st rounders for rentals although I think they would trade a first this year.

They tried to move Koskinen and decided not to. It would have taken a high draft pick and it was also very hard to find a replacement without adding even more on top of that. Kassian will have a bounce back. That is one soft team without Kassian.

If the islanders trade pulock theyll get a seth jones level return. Not a 1st, a dman that has his stats massively inflated by McD and drai not to mention who trotz would bench before even playing a game for us, a 2nd rounder that wont see the league till at least 7 years from now and a nothing prospect. Barrie isnt very good. Theres a reason that even though he led all dmen in scoring last year he didnt receive a single norris vote.
And jones didnt come with an extension either. Plus pully is better and will cost something like 8×8 as opposed to 8×9.5 for an extension.

The pens are missing Crosby for like 4 games lol. Definitely not a reason to 1.) tank and 2.) massively lose on trades. Koskinen is a garbage cap dump. It’s gonna take more than a 3rd and 5th to get a team to give you a better and cheaper goalie in return. Rust alone gets a 1st and prospect. If the Oilers want to throw in sending a terrible cap dump like Kassian (who is also trash) then it’s going to be at least another 1st. So DeSmith and rust alone and sending the pens Koskinen and Kassian means the Oilers have to add at least 3 1sts and a top prospect.
