Oye, Raty and a 1st for Gaudreau....no, just no! We're also using Boychuk to get under the cap why would we trade him away?

Boston declines…easily. Take out Lysell and OK and you are in the ball park.

Canes won’t do that unless Trocheck refuses to resign with us. The last thing the canes need right now is more centers IMO. Canes would sooner go for Johnny Hockey or Dube or try to get Lindholm back.

Whether Boychuk is on the Isles or LTIR or for some reason traded, doesn't affect the Isles cap at all.

Don't like any of the trades for those non Flames teams

you are trolling if you think DeBrusk a 1st and a 3rd even gets you remotely close to Hanifin

If it's a new era (which I agree with you it might be about time for the Flames), do you really want 29-year-old-at-that-point-and-signed-into-oblivion Colton Parayko to be a part of it? Sundqvist, Neighbors, high picks- all good parts of a Tkachuk package. And I realize the Blues would still have to add. But the Blues still need Parayko's good years while they're contending. As for Calgary, it doesn't seem to make much sense to take him. After this year he has a full NTC for six years, so you won't be able to flip him until deep into his contract (and his thirties). And you don't want to be locked into that kind of asset in their prime when you're rebuilding nor do you want to be locked into their decline when you're trying to contend.

Yeah the pens are totally going to pay a top 4 D and 4th round pick for a cap dump plug like Lucic. Pens counter with Matheson for Tkachuk and a 1st unprotected.

Did not say it would. Far closer to reality than the OP though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not really.

What do you think Hanifin is worth in terms of picks alone?

I dunno, borderline. He had not really lived up to the hype, statistically he’s a #2/#3 d man. Two 1sts would be about max. 1st and a pair of 2nds is closer to actual value. But someone will pay off perception as opposed to actual value.

He broke out last year as a legitimate top pairing 2-way defenseman analytically and will likely follow that up this year on the score sheet now that he will play 1st PP

Blind comparison. Last 2 years.

A. 9g 28a 110hits 129 blocks 20.30 mins

B. 9g 32a 75hits 101 blocks 19.30 mins

Player A is Hanifin. Player B is Matt Grzelcyk. Grizz is a #4. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think he’s good, but i don’t think he’s special. At least not yet. Can he get there? I don’t know. But i don’t think he has the kind of actual trade value that you seem to think. Keep in mind what a team asks for, needs to get, can get, and actual value are all different things.

if you´re looking for a new identity, you won´t get it if Sutter´s GM, that will just give him even more authority to run the organization his way... I don´t believe he is what´s wrong with Calgary. They are just mediocre as a team.

No, but you don’t have to deep dive a true #1 d man to look to find something that says he is. Advanced metrics used to love Ondrej Kase. According to them he was one of the top 5 FWDs is the league when healthy in Anaheim. He wasn’t. You can’t make him something he’s not just because you want him to be. Again…he’s good, he’s not great. He’s got to improve more to get to what you think his trade value already is. There are better LDs that have been on Boston ACGMs radar that I would not give up 2 1sts for.

i wanted hanifin from day 1 that being said im not moving significant pieces right now to acquire him. I think lysell is going to be an absolute stud in the nhl and i truly think debrusk is going to have a strong bounce back year. he struggled with covid and confidence and being alone, it seems the bruins are going to let him play his style of hockey and so far (only preseason) but ive loved what ive seen from the 3rd line.
