Description

This team missed the playoffs last year but did very well after the trade deadline. They are a young team and look like they are about to make the next step. While that’s the case, I don’t see the sens being quite good enough to be in the playoffs this year, but I can see them being in the mix. I wouldn’t quite trust Pierre Dorion’s statement about the rebuild being completely over just yet.

What Dorion said is widely misinterpreted. When he said the rebuild is over, he meant were not doing things that rebuilding teams do anymore like selling veterans, acquiring draft picks, and trying to get a top 5 pick. They've already been through that and now the pieces are in place. There won't be a lot of turnover on their current roster, the players they have now are just expected to improve as we go along and hopefully their record follows. Are playoffs expected? No. Is playoffs the goal? Absolutely. No rebuilding teams goes into the year trying to make the playoffs.
