won't have to give anything if MAF waives his NMC/NTC

What are the odds Vegas takes MAF though? I would take from there Defensive core if possible first. All this is hypothetical right now but anything could happen

The only defensemen to choose from will be Ian Cole with 1 year left on his contract or Pouliot who has upside but is an RFA with no real NHL success. LV GK will have their choice between Fleury, Hagelin, Rust, Sundqvist, or Wilson (barring any trades of course). If the Penguins move Maatta, Fleury may be their best bet.

They'd take just about any of those guys over Fluery.

I don't understand why MAF wouldn't prefer to be bought out. He gets more money and a much greater ability to chose his destination. Just doesn't seem like a smart move unless he REALLY REALLY wants to go to LV GK specifically. And then, he should still get bought out and sign there and collect more money. For both the powers that actually have control of the situation (not Jim Rutherford) it's a bad move.

MAF will not be the only player exposed and Pitt will be exposing more talent than most teams, combined with the fact LVK can choose better goalies from any of the other teams and has a 2 day head start with UFA Goalies, why would LVK take MAF at an inflated salary. He's going to get bought out and then any team can sign him to a more appropriate contract.

OK, I get MAF, might, might be selected by Vegas (I'm assuming he waives his NMC). But please look down the roster of the 30 teams that have to expose a goalie. Fleury might rank in the top five in current talent. Take in consideration his 5.75m salary his value to be taken among goalies might be # 10. And 5.75m sure gets you a lot of goalies that are UFAs. So looking how Vegas might spend their goalie money.IMO Fleury is way down on the list.
