Deal is fine as long as there are conditions on the picks

Massive overpay Monahan is a very good player 2 top end prospects A 1&2 Eichel can't stay healthy . If I'm a Calgary fan I get on my knees and pray Treliving doesn't make that trade. Many times the most important ability to have is availability. Also I'm a firm believer in building your teams stars through the draft and supplementing through trades

So you think the way St. Louis won the cup or how Nashville became a finalist is incorrect? Calgary has been hinging on mediocrity for a while now and a move like this can actually make them a contender. This is a trade I proposed months ago and it got positive feedback from both sides, so much that its pretty much become the standard Eichel to Calgary trade. Personally I would still do something close to it but would add conditions to the picks based on Eichel's health and performance

Yeah I think the way both Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh won back to back Cups is far more effective. I also think Eichel isn't that much better than Monahan .
Edit or the way Chicago won 3 Cups in 6 years or LA 2 in 5 so in the last dozen or so years your way won 1 mine gives you 9 examples the much more productive way.

So you think Monahan and Point are similar caliber players? Because Eichel is better than Point. As for building through the draft, the onpy way Calgary can do that is blowing up and trying again in 6+ years

You're absolutely delusional I wouldn't trade Point for Eichel with 2 1's going to TB
Edit also Point doesn't have a potential career ending neck injury or want a surgery zero players have played an NHL game after having so unless he's cleared medically I wouldn't give up anything.

I am a bolts fan...

Eichel is a better player than Point, I am not saying I would trade healthy Point 1 for 1 for broken Eichel. I am not delusional because I can tell when 1 player is superior to another. For example Barkov and Matthews are also better than Point.

But you are saying Calgary should give up Monahan (who is a very good player) 2 top level prospects and a 1&2 for a broken Eichel?
Eichel doesn't come close to getting either of those players.
Is Mathews 2,000,000/year better than Point?

Just FYI there is only 1 prospect in that package. Dube isn't a prospect

No, I cleary stated conditions on the picks based on Eichels health.

Monahan is a very good 2nd line center/low end 1C. Eichel is a top 10 center in the league and arguably top 5.

Dube is a full time NHL middle 6er at this point and Zary is a top 50 prospect around rank #40

Part of the reason you build through the draft is because players like eichel almost never hit the market. I feel like thats important here.

That does not justify skipping an opportunity to not upgrade to an elite 1C at age 25

Would you trade Point signed 9 more years at 1year of 6.5 then 8 at 9.5 or Mathews 3 more at 11.6 both being UFA's after personally I'll take Point every time in this scenario

Their contracts have nothing to do with their skill, Matthews and Barkov are both better players than Point, same with Eichel (when healthy)

Again, I am a Bolts fan, I'm just not ignorant

And the word ignorant doesn't mean stupid it means lacks knowledge which in this case I truly believe you do.

Ignorant - has the prefex "ignore" in it, meaning you ignore certain things due to lack of knowledge or unawareness. This can often lead to biased opinions, such as yours. I am not calling you stupid, I am calling you ill-informed
