Trading two NHL Dmen for one, and trading a NHL centre and not getting one in return, plus giving a first rounder doesn't seem like a good trade plan at all.

Calling the 22 year old who is about to fail to crack an NHL roster yet again and have a lot of trouble being called up due to his contract structure an NHL dman squinty smile

So going in the playoffs with 6 Dmen is plan? Trading a needed centreman, Kerfoot who was Leafs second best forward in the playoffs last season for a winger, crazy. It's easy to make a cap compliant team, but making a team that fills the positional needs, that's tough.

Leafs have the same depth defensemen they started the season with, Biega and Menell. Liljegren will have been an unlikely option for call up all season, probably won't have changed in the playoffs.

Sorry, depth Dmen aren't necessary NHL Dmen. Menell? What's the fascination with a 23 year old, that was acquired for a conditional 7th rounder.

That he has a contract structure that will let him be called up this season, unlike Liljegren.

You can keep Dermott and Mikheyev to yourselves and no one is ever going to pay for it.

Kerfoot likely plays W this year but whatever. Not gonna let facts get in the way of the narrative.

I don't see Liligren making the team, but he does next season.

People forget his development has been side tracked by injuries - and last year was an abbreviated year to boot. But, he looked like a guy that has found his game at the professional level.

Spending time with the Marlies isn't going to hurt him one ioda. If last year is an indication, if healthy, he could be one of the best D in the AHL, doing wonders for his confidence.

Simply put, not a player I am moving right now - unless the deal (pCkage) lands a top 2 D.

Moving Ksrfoot at this point is an exercise in futility. He looked very good last year, and showed he has some ability to play up the line up - a statement that cannot be made for the rest of the Leafs bottom 6 at this time. Keefoot the player fits. The contract is what the issue is, and moving him at the deadline isn't going to make the Leafs any better or worse. Wait until the offseason to explore that. Think that is evident with the Kempe for Kerfoot swap - where Kempe isn't a huge upgrade at all, but is cheaper.

As for the package......

Given the depth the Kings have up front, I don't think it's a deal that does much for them. Given that Blake's offseason moves indicate he thinks this team is ready to compete - Liligren (although nice), doesn't help with that endeavour either.

It's a deal that is a no fit for either team.

Really? And having Kampf who scored one goal last season as your 3C? Sure.

Being called up doesn't make Mennel NHL capable. Both can be called, yea Lily makes 200,000 more as a NHLer. Really the Leafs aren't going with six Dman long term.

He also shot at way below his average s%. Using his average s% he wouldve scored roughly 6 goals. Not great in the slightest but not 1 goal.

Edit: 5 goals not 6.

Liljegren will need LTIR to be called up with the way the Leafs cap currently is. Using LTIR to call him up will mean his potential bonuses count against that LTIR hit, making his NHL cap hit $1,263,333, about 400k more than Mennel and very unwiedly. Down to 8 or so players who earn enough that their LTIR would be enough to call Liljegren up.
