Opening night roster after 3 preseason games

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 3, 2021
Published: Oct. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Top 5 performers for the Jets last night:
1) Josh Morrissey: That was the best I have seen him play since 17-18.
2) Declan Chisholm: I think he showed tonight that he has future top 4 defenceman written on him. Fantastic skater and can make smart plays in the offensive zone.
3) Evgeny Svechnikov: Him getting a chance with PLD and Copper tomorrow night tells you pretty much everything you need to know. He has been fantastic all preseason.
4) Adam Lowry: Was consistent in the breakouts and was all around the front of the net.
5) Kyle Connor: Sniped a beauty of a goal.

On a quick note: I have been a huge fan of the way the Jets have played overall in the preseason. They are getting way more shots from the slot and just being overall way more effective at 5V5 than previous years. I know its still preseason, but still its promising stuff. The only concern I have is that Comrie hasn't been the greatest and I don't think he should just be handed the backup job like what it seems will happen.

Note: I have Heinola and Stanley at a 50-50 rotation for right now at the 3rd LD spot

Vesalainen was awesome against Edmonton last night, was one of the top 5 Jets for sure, he should be on the team, it's unfortunate that Copp wasn't traded as an RFA, he's in the way as far as I'm concerned.

This is the deepest the Jeta have been in a few years. Having these "issues" isn't a bad thing.

Frankly, I think Vaselainen makes the team outright, with a rotation on the 4th line tailored to opponents. Svechnikov should be in that mix. Let those two battle for a possible Statsny replacement next year with Perfetti.

Blueline should be set. Maurice loves Stanely, so I think Heinola is on the outside looking in. Now having said that, using Heinola in the lineup to give guys a night off (think load management) could be a good way to go. Better rested top 6 for the time of year when it matters.

Jets have options.

I think the Jets should have done a side deal with the Kraken where Copp ended up with the Kraken (and counted as their pick) and the Jets got a pick or prospect in return and kept Appleton. My guess is that Chevy didn't seriously entertain that thought.
