I don't know who the Avs are sending, but unless it's MacKinnon and Rantanen, they are screwed.

I’ll bet Duhaime makes the final roster over Rau.

If it's for the 13th FWD it will be Rau. Dunhaime is waivers exempt, younger, and needs to be playing at some level, not sitting in the pressbox.

True. If it’s for regular playing time, I think it’s Duhaime.

I think there are enough teams that need a C that we could see Rask shipped out in a Bjugstad type deal to open up that spot for Duhaime.

The Wild need centers as much as any team in the league...

The team is playing Rask on the wing and we need roster spots more than we need him…

Only if this regime is as delusional as the previous 3 and thinks this is a legitimate Cup contending team…

Karpizov and Fiala are both still on the team and not traded. They are going for the Playoffs, and are too good to be a true bottom feeder overall.

Yes. But moving Rask does no harm. Unless you believe he’s a viable C that can help them over the hump, your logic doesn’t add up. Minnesota has like 6 bottom 6 Cs, moving one doesn’t matter.

He is a viable center more so than what they are trying to do with Hartman and Gaudreau currently. To get rid of Rask they need to get a better center to replace him first. Then move Hartman back to wing on the 4th line. The roster starts to actually fall into place then.

Rossi? Moving Rask shouldn’t be controversial.

Not really. Where has Rossi been all training camp? He's gotten no time with the NHL regulars and missed out the last 2 preseason games. If the coaching staff had the thoughts he was close to ready Rossi would be tried out with Fiala and/or Kaprizov and JEE gets the other one.

Another legit top-6 center (Rossi projection) would change the look of this team completely. If Rossi was anywhere close to that currently he'd be used that way in camp.

True, but they still are a loooong ways from having a legitimate chance at the Cup!

I think they are being extra precautious with Rossi…which is the prudent thing to do! I would also gladly bet you a sizable sum that Rossi is already a MUCH better player than Rask!

You can be saying that same thing for the next 50 years too. Years 2-4 of the buyout are for sure dead years from competing.

Agreed! I’m just sick of 20 years of NHL-average and am more than willing to endure a step or two backwards to finally right the ship and have a sustainably competitive team! The timing of Kaprizov and Fiala sucks for my idea, but…

The coaching staff also thinks Hartman and Guadreau are better centers than Rask, so how Rossi compares in their eyes to Rask doesn't have much to do with it. It's more likely they see chemistry with Gaudreau and Fiala so that's your 2C and they want Rossi to get top 6 minutes with power play time so he needs to be in Iowa to get it. With his potential and the draft pick used to take him, they can't afford to rush him and really have no reason to do so.

Rask isn't a problem that they need to move him to give a young guy a spot. If a younger guy has earned a spot over him, he can sit in the pressbox and let them get their time in. Rask was fine a couple years ago as a healthy scratch who filled in when someone got hurt.
