Detroit passes, We're already retaining 50% on Richard Panik for this year and next. Detroit will only retain on their own rental players at the TDL for better returns.

I've been consistent with every Subban ACGM I've seen and I haven't changed my mind. Subban's glory days are behind him and he doesn't make the Leafs better at all.

Defensively, I would take Dermott and Liljegren over Subban.

This is a bad deal for the Leafs

NJ probably passes as well with Severson out they need a top 4 D man like Subban and not a bottom pairing guy like Doormat.

I wouldn't trade a bag of pucks for Subban. All he's worried about is his clothing style

Wow, Subban at 2.5m shouldn't be exchanged for Dermot by the Leafs. In what world is the current edition of Subban worth two NHLers, an expected long term RHD, and a 2nd and 3rd picks?

Why would Toronto give Detroit a 2nd to take on $2.25M? I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense Toronto or NJ, but I think Detroit says yes because they are getting a 2nd for nothing.

They're giving up one of their cap retention slots for a 2nd and they've already used one.

They have like 8 expiring UFAs this season, only being able to retain on one of them could hurt.

Though I'm sure there are other teams in the league that would do it if they don't.

    Devils should pass.
    Nothing worthwhile for Devils long-term.
Might as keep the better short-term option.

And if Smith and/or Severson are hurt to start season, we will need Subban anyway.

Ok you think this makes sense for NJ? Ok I guess, but it still makes no sense for Toronto and I still think the only team that says yes is Detroit.
