After some feedback, it does make more sense to have 8 even divisions of 4 teams. Location wise, I feel like this makes the most sense and most teams have their main rivals in their division still.

Anaheim
LA Kings
San Jose
Vegas

Calgary
Edmonton
Seattle
Vancouver

Chicago
Minnesota
St Louis
Winnipeg

Arizona
Colorado
Dallas
Nashville

Carolina
Florida
Tampa Bay
Washington

Detroit
Columbus
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh

Boston
NJ Devils
NY Islanders
NY Rangers

Buffalo
Montreal
Ottawa
Toronto

I’d much rather prefer this setup with top 8 teams from each conference making playoffs. I’d rather see this and have 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 for playoffs. I feel like it’s a better setup. Also gets rid of the “weak divisions” idea.

I really like these divisions. This would be an amazing format to watch unfold.

divisions should be

Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Detroit
Buffalo, Boston, NYR, NYI
NJD, PIttsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington
Carolina, Tampa, Florida and Columbus
Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle
SJS, LAK, Anahiem and Vegas
Colorado, Arizona, Dallas and Nashville
Winnipeg, SLB, Minnesota and Chicago

Top 8 teams make the playoffs
84 game schedule breakdown as follows

Divisional teams play each other 4 times each and next closest geographic division plays 4 games eash, remaining conference teams play 3 games each and opposite conference teams play 2 games each.
Example:

Montreal plays:
Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit, Buffalo, Boston, New York Rangers and New York islanders = 4 games = 28
Carolina, Tampa, Florida, Columbus, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New Jersey and Washington = 3 games = 24
Western Conference teams 2 = 2 games = 32

This way only 4 teams swap from original alignment Tampa and Florida go from Atlantic to Metro and NYR and NYI go from Metro to Atlantic essentially

I'm fine with the current setup. Four teams in a division is too few.

Honestly its not a bad idea. I think 5 games instead of 4 would balance it out better. But honestly a divisional shift would not be so bad. I have a feeling it will be done in 2025 once team 33 joins.

As one division should not be a cake walk while the other is a blood bath. That aint fair lul.

Similar to what I was thinking.

This was how I did it.

Also made name changes to the divisions

For the Atlantic or as I like to call it (East Coast Division)

Leafs, Habs, Senators, Wings, Sabers, Bruins, Rangers, Isles

The metro or (The Cosmopolitan Division)

Capitals, Devils, Penguins, Flyers, Lightning, Panthers, Jackets, Hurricanes

For the Pacific or (West Coast Division)

Oilers, Flames, Canucks, Kraken, Sharks, Coyotes, Ducks, Kings

And for the Central or (Cardinal Division)

Knights, Avalanche, Wild, Jets, Stars, Blues, Hawks, Predators

System I use for playoffs is similar to how the NHL did the playin back in 2020. With the current economics thanks to the pandemic I feel its the right time to introduce the format back. More money can be generated through ticket sales making the players, owners, and league very happy.

Kept the number of games the same at 82 and the game format was also left the same.
