How does DET essentially get Subban and a pick for free, then TOR pays for Subban?

Pk will have value at the TDL
We are not:
A. giving futures to take him, look at our cap space
B. Getting nothing in return
Look at the moves our GM has made lately, he'd never consider this, ever

Don't see why Detroit has anything to do with these trades. If those teams want to get rid of those players they could easily do what you just did there. Also retaining on two players would not allow us to retain on any of the players we might be trading at the deadline. That much retention for 4 years should cost more than 2 2nds as well.

7 mil off the books for a guy that likely won't play for SJ again without a buyout? It's a no brainer imo

Kane’s contract could just be terminated, why should they trade futures to get rid of him? There’s a good chance that’s a high first round pick in a loaded draft. The future of the Sharks can’t afford to trade high quality picks like this one.

I'd much rather buyout or retain half and ship him elsewhere than trade away another first (especially in the Bedard draft). Termination isn't off the table either still, but even if it was I wouldn't be trading any 1sts anytime soon no matter what.

I see your point but buying out Kane is a very expensive proposition that will handcuff our cap space for years along with the Jones buyout I'd much rather spend a 1st. Termination is super ideal but I doubt it happens. I simply don't see the organization letting Kane put on a jersey ever again, he is a toxic scumbag and it was clear in interviews that the team is happy he's not there.

I mean I agree I don't want to see him play a single other game with us, but I reeeeeaaally wouldn't risk losing what could very well be a top-10 pick just to get rid of this guy when a buyout (which is painful on it's own don't get me wrong) is an option. If we knew we were going to be good, I'd be less against trading the 1st, but I don't see that happening, I think that could be a really high pick, And that's just not worth it imo.

We will not be sending a 1st to dump Kane. that is poor asset management especially since Moving Kane is a SK is not winning in the next 2-3 seasons. If Kane did fake the Vaccination card he will get suspended for at least half the season. then SJ can just wait for his next bad decision and terminate.
