Small nitpick :

- no need for Wagner
- Boston would have to take a D-man back, the Sens just have too many, particularly on RD

Tkachuk, Brady
Mete, Victor

for

DeBrusk, Jake
Lysell, Fabian
Moore, John
2022 1st round pick (BOS)
2023 2nd round pick (BOS)

Ottawa accepts.

We then move out Wagner/Mete to another team for a couple of low picks.

I’d pass. Not sold on DeBrusk as a centrepiece.

Look at the cap, that;s why you are taking Wagner, it’s not because he’s an asset in the trade. It’s also why they are not taking back a d man….they can’t.

FTR - i’d take Brown over Mete if they could. Boston has enough midgets on the backend.

I'm not an OTT fan but shouldn't OTT be offering more than 7M? Cuz if that's the case, why would he sign for that in BOS??

Rumours have Sens offer at 8×8.1.

Also want to point out that Brady hasn't played center since he was 16, I don't think.

I'm a Bruins fan, but follow Ottawa quite a bit since I live here..... This would be interesting both ways. Formenton is a lot like Debrusk. Mete or Josh Brown going back sort of makes sense, but $$$$$. The whole thing probably doesn't work with Brady at 8+.

They did 8 X 8.

The reason - it’s not Ottawa. He doesn’t want to be there long term.

So why would he go to Boston for less? I can think of a few teams willing to pay him 8+

He has no say in where he is traded. And not much bargaining power when he gets there.

He has ties to Boston having played college hockey there. Between that and getting to play playoff hockey, it’s a nice motivator.

This contract is not about the $. If it was he would have signed already. It’s about positioning himself to get out. He does not want 8 years there.

I know but I would have said "waive/trade him yourself". Not a big deal, Sens could do it themselves and who knows, maybe even get a late pick for him

Ok Brown over Mete sure. I actually prefer Mete, he has some very good wheels, he's not very good offensively but pretty good defensively and in transition on a 3rd pair.

From all accounts, it's not the term or money the problem but the salary structure (like bonuses) and movement clauses. Melnyk deson't give up bonuses and it's a big problem

He’s the 3rd piece.

Lysell and the 1st are the main two pieces?
