Overpayment for Holl, and they shouldn't trade Sprong anyway, he was great last year.

How’s that an overpayment. Holls a legit top 4 guy making 2 mill for the next 2 years

Meanwhile Leafs fans are trading him away for a 3rd and a 5th.

i dont see him as a legitimate top 4 guy, watching last year I wasn't a fan of his game. The contracts is cost effective but the caps can get another 3RD in free agency. Giving away Sprong, who had a good season last year and is primed for a breakout season, and Lucas Johansen, who while has taken a while to develop, still has good potential, is far too much for a 3RD.

I agree that it's a bit of an overpayment. However, if Sprong has another good season he probably will price himself out of DC, since they have replacements on entry-level deals. I think Caps need a RHD more than another winger, especially if both McMichael and Lapierre makes the team next year, which they should do. But yeah, I would prefer to get something more than a #4/#5 D for a guy who was on pace for 25 goals last year.

In this case, Holl only has one year left on his contract. And I wouldn't call him a legit top 4 guy. He's a top 4 guy in Toronto, but wouldn't be on on many other teams.

Toronto easily has a top 10 d in the league, I’m pre sure holl would be a top 4 guy on at least 15-20 other teams

No it's the the worth he has to the team. He play a specific role for us at a great price point so if you want the same thing that's what you would have to give up in this inflated defense market.

Do you think the Maple Leafs will try to relocate? A fresh start? Seems like they need something to change after over 50 years of poor performances...

Right, and how many straight years of second round exits ? If ovi played on another team he would’ve had 3 cups rn

Didn’t u have a prime ovi from 2004 and manage to make the ECF only once??? Caps literally ruined ovis career, he would’ve had 4-5 cups if he was on another team

Nice! 13 cups before the NHL doubled the size.
50 years is a long time - maybe relocation will help?

Ovechkin was a big reason why they didnt win. Buying in to a team based system where you play 200 feet was what won them the cup. Long story short is Capitals were able to win a cup. Leafs haven't won a 1st round series with all that talent... its pretty embarrassing. Imo they are worse this year than last year but so did most of the teams in that division... Tampa and Boston arent nearly as scary which should make Leaf fans more optimistic. Rask is gone
