For sure they would lol. But this isn't worth it for BUF. Monohan isn't going to sign longterm with them after next year. The picks aren't much. Dube is a nice piece, but a top end prospect and a first would need to be added.

BUF shouldn't have any real issue flipping Monny for a pick or two come the trade deadline.

probably, but that doesn't equal an Eichel return.

They need top end young pieces to make this rebuild work. A second and 6th don't accomplish that and neither do Monohan and Dube.

I get that everyone is down on him. I'm not a uge fan myself, even before the injury. But BUF cannot screw this deal up and get a minimal return like this.

While I do agree with you that BUF will feel the need to maximize a return on Eichel I think if/when Eichel gets dealt the package that BUF gets in return will be somewhat underwhelming. Everyone thought at the beginning when talks were going around that Eichel may want out of BUF that the price would be sky high. But this has dragged on for so long and only now is BUF allowing interested teams to look at his medical reports. Many months ago it seemed like almost half the league would be interested in acquiring Eichel. But since then teams have filled out their rosters and are basically set for this upcoming season and true contending teams are close to the salary cap. There is likely 2-5 teams in on him so not the bidding war it seemed like it was going to be.
