That'd be an awesome pickup for the Avs. I don't think Vancouver would move him until next year when he's a pending UFA, but the value doesn't seem too far off

So odd that Saad is making only $4.5M and here we are finding fun ways to replace him

Sakic has clearly become very risk-averse when it comes to signing non-core players to term after how Compher has turned out. He's almost overcompensated in that regard, only giving out 1 and then 2 year term to Nichuskin and Burakovsky, and declining to sign Saad to that 4-5 year deal. Jost also got only 2 years. JT Miller would have 2 years remaining which would fit Sakic's style.

Helleson fills your biggest need as a big punishing RHD who can pass the puck well; he's a prototypical perfect partner for Hughes, and teams rarely give up RHD's with his upside in trades.

For the sake of discussion though, what more do you want? (Don't even both saying Byram or Newhook).

I agree he's definitely what the Canucks would want. I'm not really sure what else tho I'm not familiar with the Avs prospects

I think this is pretty close, assuming VAN is out of the playoff race.

Would you consider dropping the picks and Compher and adding Barron?

Absolutely not. Can't be trading both our RHD prospects in the same deal. Plus Computer would probably need to be involved to balance cap unless this is a deadline deal.

The deal would have to be at the deadline for Vancouver to consider, there’s no way JB who’s job is on the line would sell an asset like Miller unless the team is out of h playoff picture.

Fair enough on the RD argument. I figured if you kept your 1st you could replenish the RD prospect loss in what’s supposed to be a deep draft. I don’t think Compher would be a hard player to move and I’m sure there would be a team that would pay an asset to acquire him at the deadline, so I don’t think he would have to be included in the Vancouver trade.
I think from Vancouver’s perspective they would want a youngish roster player, prospect and a second prospect or a pick for a player of Miller’s caliber. Jost’s potential has probably been pretty close to being reached, a good 3rd liner, a good prospect in Barron and if you didn’t want to trade both RD probably a 2nd-3rd rounder…and I bet still some Vancouver fans say that’s to low.
