Huge deal, but expected, only 500k more than Point.

This is a major dub for Florida, now figuring the cap is their only question.

Great deal, but I saw a report that there’s $70mil+ in signing bonuses, so this may be updated to reflect that if it’s true.

If that’s actually true, that means nearly 90% of the contract is signing bonuses, how does that even work?

Barkov's average annual net income will be roughly $6,336,000 after taxes. (tax rate = 36.64%)

Marner's average annual net income is currently $5,105,000 after taxes. (tax rate = 53.18%)

An $8,000,000 cap-hit in Florida would give you about the same net-income as Mitch Marner.

Marner has a lower net-income than Kucherov + Stamkos + Point + Vasilevskiy + Barkov + Bobrovsky.

His after tax salary is closer to Hedman + Ekblad than anyone above (and his cap-hit is $3,000,000+ higher than theirs).

If the contract is balanced, on July 1, Barkov is paid 9 million in a signing bonus. Then a 1 million base salary for the season for 8 years.
