My Standings prediction

Created by: Saskleaf
Team: 2021-22 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 9, 2021
Published: Oct. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here is my annual standings prediction.

For the 1st vs wild card it would be VGK vs WIN, COL vs STL, TBL vs BOS, CAR vs NYI

I feel like this is pretty conservative with no real hot takes, which can be both good and bad. I expect at least one team to come out of the blue and make the playoffs (sens, kings, or hawks perhaps), as this happens every year, but this is the most likely prediction in my opinion. Feel free to discuss this below, or post you own predicitions. I'm looking forward to the season start.

I like it that I see the oilers second! Seattle is going to be decent, but they won’t beat Vancouver. Vancouver is probably the third best team in the pacific now, especially with the off-season they just had. I would also put Boston over Toronto as I think Boston is better. I would also probably swap Winnipeg with Minnesota, and we will have to see how the goaltending does to see if the stars are second in the central. If the goalies play bad, they will be a wild card team.

Wouldn't surprise me, I just don't want to bet against tampa.

Both Vancouver and Calgary have really been on the decline lately. They could make the playoffs over Seattle but Seattle has a really good d core and goalie tandem.

I could maybe see Vancouver or Calgary over Seattle. I just think Seattle has the best chance of the 3.

Oiler's offense is too good for them not to get top 2 in the division I think.

Nope. They've never been a good regular season team.

You’re too high on Minny, STL and Winnipeg are better, Calgary is better than Seattle and Edmonton, Pittsburgh is like 5-6 in the Metro, those are my main disagreements, the rest are minor and mostly inconsequential

1. Minny's a younger team with a lot of potential, and they got maybe slightly better (debatable. The point is they didn't get worse). STL and Winny are the opposite. I like the jets, but I'm just not overly confident in them and I think Minny is better.

2. Seattle maybe, Edmonton no (at least in the regular season).

3. I forgot that they already have a bunch of their stars out with injury, you might be right.

Those standings in the Atlantic would be Toronto's worst nightmare a first round series with the Back to back Cup Champs. Their streak stays in tact

I admit, this is why I had lightning over panthers.

Turns out I nailed the oilers being second predicition. That was the only one that I got right in the pacific though lol.

Looking back at these takes:

Take number one: not good. You were right about me overrating Winnipeg but I underrated STL and Minny.

Take number two: great take. Calgary ended up being better than Edmonton, and astronomically better than Seattle.

Take number three: also not great. Pittsburg is either 3rd or a wildcard team.

Oh, I’ll make a look back about my standing predictions when it’s all official and done. my Atlantic+Pacific was decent but then my Metro+Central were hot garbage

At least you got one of them. The pacific is very hard to predict. I was off too haha. I had Vegas, Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, LA, Seattle, Anaheim, San Jose in the pacific in order!

No, because I thought Winnipeg was going to be a good team this season. I was so wrong haha!
