Just curious as to what some people on here think is overrated or just personally don't get the hype for. This doesn't have to mean that you think something is trash and that other people are stupid for liking it, only that you don't seem to love it as much as many others.

Could be anything from movies, tv, books, food, teams, players, music, brands, etc.

I'll start with a pick influenced by recency bias: Squid Game. Watched it. Enjoyed some parts more than others. Thought the 'Marble' episode was very good; by far the best in the show. Rest of it I found very meh.

K-Pop as a genre of music. It has nothing to do with the fact i don’t understand it, I have plenty of songs in foreign languages (namely Finnish and Serbian) on my music playlist. It just doesn’t sound good to me.

South Korean/Japanese media. Anime and South Korean/Japanese movies to be more specific. Movies I've seen, ranging from Parasite to Train to Busan, I don't find enjoyable despite seemingly everybody else liking these types of movies, Parasite in particular (1917 should have won best picture).

Edit: also add Squid Game to this list, I don’t see the hype for that either.

100% agree with Squid game, started to watch one episode and didn't even finish it, and that's saying a lot because I normally don't do that.

Pop/Soda

There’s not a single one of them that’s good, the only one that’s alright is Mountain Dew. Fizzy drinks just aren’t good at all.

FACTS

I'm not really a carbonated drinks person either. I do enjoy Canada Dry Ginger Ale and drink it during every Leafs game, but that's more of a tradition/sentimental thing. But other than that, I'm with you.

Coke is a great chaser for alcohol.

So so many I could choose, but I will go with: Coffee. Especially coffees that cost five bucks.

Yup, I agree. Coffee is only drinkable is sweetener (sugar or honey) is added, black coffee is nasty.

And even if it has sweetener, it's still not even that good.

If it's one thing for me it's celebrity drama, especially with younger celebs. I honestly don't get how people find that interesting, especially beef between tiktok stars and stuff.

I honestly couldn't care less about some famous person's issues with another famous person. The only beef that has ever been entertaining IMO is whenever eminem gets pissed at someone.

Agreed. The only other kind of celebrity drama I ever liked (even though I hate it/him now) was Trump's twitter. It was always...interesting...to wake up and see that the President of the United States called someone a loser. Fun times.

I also did not like the "squid game" at first, but I always watch the series to the end. And the ending really surprised me. She very well shows many human character.
And at the expense of hype, I can say that I still remember the time when Сrazy frog was popular

NFTs, Coffee, Soda, Anime, and K-Pop

Superhero movies. Mainly because I'm not a big fan of action movies in general.

Although I did like the new Batman film, mostly because it's more of a detective-style movie than your standard MCU film. I also have a soft spot for the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy since I remember watching it when I was younger and it makes me nostalgic.

It's definitely an over-saturated market right now, filled with the same generic stuff 99% of the time.

For me it's K-pop. I just don't understand why it's so popular
