Jets are better off keeping their current core together

Rangers say no. No way we’re trading our core for that.

Those trades for Marner and Matthews are just plain dumb. You’re giving away too much for way too little.

Regardless of what you think of the Big 4, Matthews is a player that is VERY hard to replace and Marner knows how to rack up points

Wait are you saying that the Marner trade is a huge underpay for Marner?

To win hockey games, you need people that can produce goals and Marner is an expert in setting people up.

What we’re getting in this trade doesn’t replace the production he was giving.

It works if you don’t care about the Leafs scoring after he’s gone but after the Marner trade this Leafs team is a less effective scoring team

Jets say yah right....I wouldn't trade Scheifele for Matthews 1 on 1....the 5M of cap space is not worth it

So let’s see, in this trade you’re getting one of the leagues top goalies (top 10-12), a top four defenseman, someone with 2C potential, and a top pairing defenseman (who might I add was a huge part in Fox’s Norris win). No way the Rangers accept that. Sure Marner is an elite playmaker, but not worth it for that.

… if neither team thinks the deal is good then why do it?

Rangers say no. Unnecessary move with our wingers. Marner makes too much and is a winger. We’ve already got too much money on wingers locked up. Then you trade half our top 4 and starting goalie, this trade is complete crap for us as we create like 3-4 holes in our lineup.

Caps say no. That’s what they paid for Mantha alone last year, so including Wilson in the deal basically means that they would give him up for free. They’re still all in, Mantha and Wilson won’t be traded, especially not for that return.
