Strome is going to ask for much more than that. Guy is scoring at a 70 pace over 82 games across his last 2 seasons as well as being an attractive type of player for coaches, hard working, blue collar, etc. His number will start with a 7 or 8, defintiely not a 4. He's as good as gone.

Fox's comparable is Makar. Add a year of cap increase and his number will probably come in a bit over 9. Tax rate in New York is also basically 2x what it is in Colorado so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it ends up being a 10.

on a bridge, i get it, but why they wouldn’t want to lock him up long term is beyond me.

If strome wants to stay then he has to realize that 4.5 is the only workable number

And Fox forcing his way home makes it a situation with no comparables, if anyome would have the mindset to take one for the team its him

Because they don't have the cap short term, 2 years takes him to his final year of RFA eligibility at 26 and the date where Kreider and Trouba both go from a NMC to a 15 team NTC

So no real reason to expect either of those things to happen. Gotcha.

Person is being unreasonable a bridge at $7 mil for 2 years is pretty good and most likely gives him $10 mil plus his next deal.

1. Agreed Strome is good as gone…hopefully he plays well in the early going to generate enough interest for a trade with a good return (including late 2022 1st?) by Thanksgiving.
2. Fox- while the Makar deal does set the bar…I can see him taking a discount on a slightly shorter deal. 8M x 4 would probably get it done….if NYR could make it 5 years even better…Fox going into his next deal at 28 or 29 would set him up for a longer term monster contract- at a time where (assumed) the cap jumps after the tv deal, return to normal after COVID, etc.

I'd love a 5 year deal as well if it keeps him at around 8.5 or less
