why would OTT do this?

It's an unnecessary risk for a building team that is getting close to being competitive again.

I was down to do this till I saw Pinto playing in preseason. I think we only to trade for a top 6 winger

I'd rather not. Pinto is only 20 years old and already looks better than Zibanejad ever did while in Ottawa. Imagine what Pinto could be doing in two years! And then you're adding Jarventie AND a 1st round pick? For a guy who hasn't even had the very significant surgery that could drastically change his effectiveness as a player? Nah. Ottawa should just sign Tkachuk to a deal, get another top 10 pick in 2022, make some real noise in 22-23, and become a destination team for elite UFAs.

Pick up a top 10 pick and then next summer make a massive prospect + picks deal for a top winger.

it's going to take 6 months to 1 year for just about any NCAA guy to make the jump.
Pinot is a solid prospect, you have to be patient.
This is how teams ruin rebuilds. They try to speed it up when the team is clearly not ready.
You have to be patient, trust the plan. If you start trading away draft picks now you'll end up looking like EDM and TOR. Half a team, no cap, no youth.
That's not the way to do it. There is a time and a place to go all in. But they aren't even close to that.

Why deal away prospects and picks when we'll have cap space and a team that's good enough to possibly entice a UFA like Giroux, Hertl, or Forsberg...

Pinto is NHL ready on both ends of the puck, great at faceoff and PK and had a couple of clutch goals .

being productive and ready are two different things. It takes just about everyone out the NCAA 6 months to a year. Then watch out.
They need time to adjust. It's true for almost every player coming out of another league. They have to adapt their game to the competition.
Now is not the time to trade him.

Too late for Pinto. Sens have a ridiculous amount of quality pieces. At this very moment, it's Tkachuk I'd be looking to trade.

It was too late for me last season. Seeing him in these 12 games convinced me about what I saw the last 2 years in the NCAA and WJC

Never is the time to trade Pinto. You don't trade that kind of player. Same with Sanderson, these 2 guys won't need time to be good, they already are. It's not like guys like Bernard-Docker or Kleven. These guys will be NHL players too but yes, they'll need transition time.

Pinto will shock the hockey world based on people expectations who never saw him coming.

Pinto is for sure ready to handle a middle 6 pivot role, but I get what you're saying... and am very excited to see what he might be in two years. He's miles ahead of where Zibanejad was at 20, that's for sure!
