Wow! I just saw that. As long as we only use him on the PP and 12 ATOI or less...it's all good

This is bad bad bad news. He’s going to be paired with Seth Jones and be a source of a lot of headaches.

He was signed as a depth D with Caleb and Kalynuk being out. I don't think Colliton is that big of an idiot to pair them together.

Thinking Nylander is a good forward < Seth Jones a good defenseman

D=M/V award goes to the Chicago gm yet again.

Hawks fans quick question, why has he bounced around. I mean he’s obviously a good offensive defenseman, is he just a black hole in his own zone?

Short answer is yes. The more complicated answer is that there really is a subtle game to game mindset that changes. You could be down 4-1...then this offensive Dman comes and saves your bacon. Holy Cow! Why doesn't this guy get more ice time? It's because that offensive burst comes with a FAR more consistent defensive risk. So even if your down a goal early in the 1st or 2nd.....the urge is to play him.
You have to stay mentally strong and not abandon the game plan. 3rd...ok fine, but its a gamble. Kinda like leaving your net to a certain degree..not as bad though clearly.

I like the signing as long as Hawks management can stand up to the press who will at some point this season (Mark my F'ing words too) ask why Gus isn't getting more time when he pulled one out of his hat. It's because we know his role just like we know a #4C should be able to PK. Don't get to excited when he does great offensive things. Stay the course. When your down...play him. On the PP...play him.

This is really confusing, for a human to be a black hole, in his own end or anywhere really, they would have to be compressed to a size of (10^-23 cm). Just for reference, that a much smaller than the nucleus of an atom. So no, he is most definitely not a black hole.
