That package likely doesn't get Eichel and Arizona let alone any team is going to retain $2M for 5 years for those draft picks. Would take a couple firsts probably for that kind of retention.

It's 4 whole years of retention tho

8M$ of dead cap is at least a 1st especially

for a vulnerable franchise with a strict internal cap

Who was the last player to take 5M$ less than he was worth over two years to help the team win just because their clownish new GM f**ked the cap

    Has that ever happened 😐

    Will that ever happen 😐

    Instead of wildly hopeful theoreticals

What about critique towards the clownish GM

If you want Buffalo to retain 20% then you have to start your offer with Lafreniere otherwise there is no chance. Without retention, you can build a trade off your 2022 1st and Lundkvist/Schneider. Eichel is definitely not going to the Rangers since they just resigned Ziba to be their top line center long term. Eichel isn't a 2nd line center

Take a look at the trade between Toronto and Penguins regarding Kessel, very similar situation. Arizona would take on that contract for 5 years so they can actually reach the cap floor. You guys know if a team retains salary they don't actually pay the salary. To respond to Eichel being a 2nd line center and Zib 1st line. The pens have Crosby as one and Malkin as 2nd. Malkin on any other team would be a number one. Fox would be smart to take that bridge deal so he can then turn around and get 9.5-10 mil. If we can pull off this trade our team will be able to compete for years to come for sure. Further more on Fox, the league cap will go up, means players salaries will go up.

Look at McCavoy. He settled for less so he can re-up after the bridge deal. Which his next contract will be in the 8-8.5 range for sure.

Because it's NYC, we always have to pay more, nothing new there, hence the always solid Kreider, Trouba & Goodrow a tad over. Then Karma bit us in the ass. Sure we lucked out with 2 & 1 oa, yet had no choice but select unanimous RW & LW. From 20% to 80% grit with new heavy depth, at a combined cheap hit for Goodrow, Reaves, Nemeth, Blais, Tinordi along with Barron. With all of our kid Ds pushing, Lindgren or KAM will be future bait for a C. So far so good 😁😉😁😮😥
