Might be missing a few contracts but also, I like how Wahlstrom is developing. I wouldn’t move him and think you could remove him from that trade altogether. Then add some to get Manson retained so you have the space for the contracts needed

Don’t think that’s a serious trade offer. Blues accept that instantly.

Manson expires after this season. There’s about $18.6M in cap space for next season. The biggest names are Pulock and Dobson as free agents and Manson. Overall wouldn’t be too worried. But I do agree with Wahlstrom and that is why he’s in the trade and Tarasenko has salary retained.

That is a likely hood but I believe Tarasenko will have a good bounce back season and help the Islanders to a Stanley Cup as he has helped the Blues to a Stanley Cup

Tarasenko would cost a 1st at max with 50% retained. This is awful. Mayfield is a legit top 4 D man. Wahlstrom is a legit top 6 player that is really young and has great potential. Then 2 1st on top of that plus a 2nd? Panik brings down the value a bit but still a huge overpayment. I wouldn't even have done it for prime Tarasenko nor this one where he has had 3 operations on the same shoulder. Also he has not been that great of lately. Until he proves he can be a 40+ goal scorer he will not get you much. Keep dreaming bud!

I think you missed the point. You are short 2 roster players and have 15k to pay them. The retention is about getting those contracts on the books and has nothing to do with next season
