Description
My ideal lineup if Troch is healthy for Thursday. Would like to see this lineup for a handful of games to see if Jarvis has the jam to stick in the NHL this year. I know it's probably not the most realistic look but if we're giving him an extended look I think it should be in the top 6, would be fine flipping him and Necas as well.

Added benefit is the third line has a lot of scoring pop on it as well as being very difficult to play against defensively.

Would rotate Drury / Marty in with Stepan / Lorentz depending on injuries and how everyone is playing. I think Marty is the 13th F on this team when healthy and Drury would be the first long-term call up if anybody goes down to play in the bottom 6.

I mean, if they're gonna go out and get TDA might as well see what he can do with primo minutes.

Finnish line is probably an option. This depth is great because it gives RBA a ton of options, especially when Jarvis is in the mix and the team is healthy.

The Nino - Staal - Fast line sounds like such a pesky and tough to play against 3rd line, though. But if Jarvis can prove to be the hype, maybe it can be worth it.

They might've goofed really hard in the goaltending department this offseason, but they've arguably got the best depth top to bottom on both sides... pretty crazy

Yeah, I don't hate Nino Staal Fast on a line if Jarvis does get sent back down. Wouldn't mind seeing Drury on the third line at some point too.

Goaltending is the x factor - I do think the ceiling is higher but the risk is high too with injury risk on Raanta and gambling that Freddy returns to form. I tend to trust the Canes front office on those types of moves and I think if you split their workload hopefully they can stay healthy and Freddy should look better in front of Carolina's system / team defense and without as much pressure as the Toronto market. Or it could all implode smile

I just would've given Freddy's AAV to the younger Ned and called it a day. I'm really shocked they didn't do it. Unless Ned wanted some crazy contract and settled for less with DET, which would also be surprising. All that time waiting for Ned, just to show he's good, then dump him off... lmao... really weird move. I'm not a CAR fan, but a rare L for them lately. I'm sure they do well regardless, but it's really their only question mark coming into the season, even if it isn't a big one

Rod isn’t saddling Aho with our 2 worst defensive wingers. Maybe flip Jarvis and Necas
Also, Martinook isn’t sitting.

Yeah, I agree on the Ned front. I understand the rationale to an extend but I don't necessarily agree with it. Guess they didn't like what they saw in whatever underlying internal metrics they use b/c he looked good to the eye and most of his numbers were great last year as well. It was a very small sample size and his prior numbers in lower levels aren't great even though he's historically won a lot of games. They definitely made a decision lol, we'll see if it's the right one.

Agree on the first part - thought I did flip them when I was making this.

Marty probably isn't sitting all year but this is my preference. He brings a ton in the locker room and some good energy on the ice but is definitely replaceable on the ice. I could see him getting back to back games off to get Lorentz in and if Jarvis gets sent back down Lorentz and Marty probably both play the fourth line. Either way injuries are going to happen throughout the year so having 13-14 Fs will be a good problem to have after the first few weeks of the season.

Drury seems like a candidate if there's a longer term injury which is why I'm assuming they left him on the roster until we see Troch play. Assuming Troch is good to go which seems like the case, Drury probably gets sent down shortly to get some more reps in.
